Silly Russians!

I wonder what that last car or load was used for, beside tipping over trucks,,,

Maybe you should send the $25 to the person who made that video

Maybe you should send the $25 to the person who made that YouTube video.   It would be like a person posting a MRH Ken Patterson YouTube video in another forum and getting a $25 dollar credit for doing that.  Look how I just discovered a new way to build a crossover bridge with foam,  Thanks for the $25.

Do you not think Ken Patterson who made the video should get the $25 Credit?  (And he does seem to be begging for money).  I do.

I find it odd that people find this OK. On the other hand they get all ethical about a person who finds a train, layout photo or picture that they took and post it to another forum with out their permission.  Look I found the great picture of a SP steam engine on the web and then post it in some other web publication.

I see cross posting as fine for both pictures or videos but paying someone $25 for finding someone else work is a little unethical.  If anything that $25 should go to the YouTube Creator who took that video.

Don't you think the $25 should go to the creator of the video?  If not Why?

I believe that things posted

I believe that things posted on you tube because of the lic fall under public domain or some similar lic agreement. I suspect that is the way folks get to post for free. Now if you were to take videos from a private website that were protected under copy right laws that would be different. As to payment the payment is for the submission not the video itself which is itself posted so that any one can watch it with out cost.

Not saying other opinions do not have merit just that is what I think applies in the case mentioned.

Usually

I just trust the publication to see the person likely doesn't have copyright to the material and that they deal with that accordingly. It beats getting all sanctimonious and lippy with people...just a thought.

I think Cross posting is OK,  But getting paid any money for finding, Showing up in a column in a magazine etc. I'm sure they do expect to get paid.

War flight, in answer to one

War flight, in answer to one of your comments I believe the last car is a crane that is used to unload track components from that train. I am not sure regarding non USA types but it has the look of that type of equipment.

$25?

I posted it for the fun of it... not for any money!

As for Viral Hog... I couldn't find the original poster, or I would have posted it from them... Viral Hog is notorius for swiping videos from others (not submitted to them) and slapping their logo on it, and taking credit, and ownership without permission (which is WHY I spent several hours looking for the opriginal poster before finally posting it from there) It was originally found posted to my Facebook wall from a third party, who ALSO posted it from Viral Hog, with the Viral Hog logo removed. Should I have posted that instead?

Why is this an issue, when I'm posting it because I found it amusing? Should I not post things, because it might upset someone? I did not remove any logo, nor did I hide any of the sources of where I got it from. I fail to see the dishonesty here... so far, I'm only seeing a complaint, from someone who doesn't own it, defending someone who stole it, from a fellow modeler who simply shared the open sopurced youtube video, that could have been, but was not set for private. Every time someone watches it here in this forum (especially if they want to watch it full screen) the Youtube chanel gets credit, and sometimes even gets paid by Youtube. (depending on the channel) I seriously doubt they are worried about people here watching it, and getting more hits to their channel.

This is my wordy way of saying "this is a non-issue".

Wow, a little uppity,  Maybe

Wow, a little uppity,  Maybe you should read,  what I said,

"I see cross posting as fine for both pictures or videos but paying someone $25 for finding someone else work is a little unethical.  If anything that $25 should go to the YouTube Creator who took that video."

This was aimed at posting this video in  Derailments and collecting $25

Then you act like a know it all and accuse a company that pays original video creators for the exclusive rights to use or resale a videos as thieves, all I can say is Wow... Do you have proof on that?

Please calm down everyone...

As I see it, nobody much trusts Viral Hog.

Fine.

It also appears that it is fine to post/link the video for non-commercial purposes (which, probably, means posting here is fine) if, as seems potentially doubtful, Viral Hog owns it.

Also fine.

It is however stretching things to the point of possibly needing lawyers (a point to be avoided if possible) if we were to put it in the next issue of MRH.

Finally fine. We won't.

Please resume your normal fun hobbyist-ing.

Thank you.

Jeff,What next you going to

Jeff,

What next you going to tell us CNN is Fake news too?  ViralHog averages close over 10 million views per month with over 350 million views and it has been reported they make close $70,000 per month just on YouTube views only.  Many people sell and try to sell videos to ViralHog. If you have some proof other wise that they do not own this video or paid for the exclusive use resale use of this video please share it with us.

Videos that ViralHog has are like this one.  Some random person happens to have a camera out and films something like this,  This person does not have a youtube channel or anyway to profit fom this video.  This person seeks out companies like Viralhog who pays for the Video who resale or promote it,  Much like a company that holds Stock Photos and Stock Video.

I can not sell my stock video and photos my self and make any real money.  I sell me photos and videos to company that handle stock photos and videos.  I make money upfront on my photos and videos that normally I could not sell my self with out a stock photo house or video holding company.

What would you say Jeff if a person copied all your photos from this last NMRA event and posted them on the MR forum and said look what I found on the web For Your Amusement.  I'm sure you would be ok with that.  It is only cross posting & sharing, right?

I wonder ...

... how that train stopped so quickly after tipping that truck ... was this for real, or from some movie?

I wondered the same...

I just figured it was probably already in the process of slowing, and wasn't that long of a train? Maybe the coupler disengaged? (I don't know how the Russians do it with their couplers)

Don't worry Warflight, you are not the one ruffling feathers and there is nothing wrong with sharing links, that's why YouTube has the Share options that you used. There is also nothing wrong with submitting a link to the humor column and being paid a finders fee.

I enjoyed all three of these videos!

If they pay for finding the video and it's a link then the finder should get the fee, in that case the fee is for finding not creating the video. If they say the video must be your own or that only creators can submit their stuff that's a different situation......DaveB
