Thanks Bill

You do such a great job of taking care of us. I wish we could "pin" posts like this as I am sure if I ever need to do this I'll wonder where to go and what to use for a search term.

Thanks Greg.

Basically I made these 2 posts so I can include a link to them when I fix-up a broken post

One other thing that can be

One other thing that can be done Bill is resizing the video if needed. In the embed text it will have a size for the video window. On mine recently the size is too wide for the page in MRH. I believe it shows up as 840 wide and I change it to 720. That will only change the width and if one does not do something similar to the height it looks really weird. So the next thing I do is divide the new width by the old width and I get a number like this .85714286. I then multiply that times the old height and it usually comes out to be something like 434 or something similar if it does not come out even I just round to the next whole number.

Change Video Size

Rob, there is a much easier way to change the video size...

On the youtube Share/Embed option, before you copy the embed code, click "Show More"

Then simply choose the pre selected size you want:

Now copy the embed code and it will contain the new size elements, no math required.

Very good Bill I will have to

Very good Bill I will have to look for that option, that is much easier although I am not afraid of the math.

Must be a mac using firefox issue as I do not get that screen, for me it is just what ever comes up with the embed code.

no show more?

you don't see the "show more" option below the embed code?

I'm using Firefox on Windows. Also tested with IE and Chrome.

It only appears once you choose "Embed".

No, Bill I don't. When I

No, Bill I don't. When I click on the video I get a list of options and then I have the option of embed or not. It also says something about HTML.

One more click.

Hi Rob, think you just missed clicking the word Embed

1. Locate the Video you wish to get the embed code for.
2. Below the video, locate the line with Add to, Share, More
3. Click Share, the sharing options will open.
4. Locate the line that contains Share, Embed, Email
5. Click Embed, the embed options will open.
6. The embed code is in the text box (starts with < iframe width=...> )
7. Under the embed code text box click Show More. The embed code advanced options will open.
8. Select the video size from the video size dropdown (ensure that the width is less than 750 px), alternatively if you know the correct aspect ratio select custom and enter in the height and width text boxes)
9. Uncheck Show suggested videos when the video finishes.
10. Now the embed code as been updated with the settings you have selected.  Highlight all the text in the text box identified in step 5.
11. Copy the highlighted text and paste it into the MRH embed media dialog.

Hope this helps

Andrew

Andrew and Bill I will look

Andrew and Bill I will look again but I suspect with the newest operating system upgrades it may not drop those screens on my Mac. I will see about doing a screen shot on each step so you guys can tell me if I am missing the obvious, which I will not rule out. I greatly appreciate all of your help and guidance!

@Bill............regarding my last video post.......

..........you know what throws this off is when I hit "preview" below the reply text box, it looks right and I always hit the play button to make sure it works.  I'm seeing now that doesn't mean it works when someone else hits the play button!!  When you first opened my post, what did you see and what happened when you hit play?  Curious.

@Peter

when I see videos that need correcting they look like the ones in this thread on correcting videos

http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/25659

o%20post.jpg

They play fine for me, but I am using a PC.
For most tablet and mobile users, all they see is the https://m. without the video.
For them, there is nothing to click or play.
