Historic steam locos - made from wood!

All models are are equipped with an battery power system and wireless controlled. And they run fantastically!

All these models were built by Hans Feuz - to see here in picture, working at one of his models around the turntable  - a friend of Martin Rindlisbacher, comming also from Switzerland.

The star of the show!

And the star of the show is ...
the Canadian F-2a 4-4-2 "Jubilee" in around 1:11 scale, running on 5 in. track (127 mm).

The model is 8 ft long (2.40 m) and is driven by two electric motors in tender, one for each truck.

Please click on picture for enjoying the details!

Inside of cab.

Details of frame and brake gear, seen with mirrors underside of track.

One of tender drive system, the second for front truck is removed.

And - as last. The master with his baby!
Martin Rindlisbacher from Switzerland presents his great model loco a large number of high interested visitors.

I received the friendly permission from Martin to show here some more photos of his models. Many thanks to Martin!

Here the Jubilee side by side with one of three Mason Boogies built also by Martin - an other fantastic work! Some more pics will follow.

Please visit the website of Martin Rindlisbacher - Fluhdesign.ch
Sorry, but I do not know a meaning of "fluh", however his descriptions and pictures are great! For more pictures of the Jubilee click here - Die schöne Kanadierin Jubilee 4-4-4, please.

A small correction!

German craftsmanship is good, I think! (Thanks!)
But these models come from Switzerland! And that is better, definitively!

Three Mason Bogies

http://fluhdesign.ch/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/IMG_8819.jpg">alt=" src=" http://fluhdesign.ch/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/IMG_8819.jpg"style="width: 750px; height: 464px; border-width: 1px; border-style: solid;" />

One of them side by side with the Jubilee. Look the difference of size!

pParts, parts and more parts.

A first excursion in garden.

Wondeful details!

The parade of steam! A wonderful work and graet craftsmanship, I think!

Look a very good description about development of these models with many, many pictures - Der Traum vom South Platte River (The dream ...) which Martin Rindlisbacher from Switzerland built.

Thank you very much to Martin for his permission for using these pictures of his website here. Unfortunately, the Mason Bogies weren't to see on exhibition.

Sorry, an addition yet!

Martin's propeller car, a futuristic object after an idea of Kruckenberg's propeller car that exist short before WWII in Germany as a test rail object - with passengers on board! But that car was not very successfully.

Click on picture to open Martin's blog entry on his website for seeing some more pictures.

The model is driven only by the propeller and it did run very well on the short exhibition trackage. The model must be stopped each time by a reverse turning propeller because there is not installed a wheel driven power system that could brake the car.  Also this was a model with very many discussions!

Takes my breath away.

Garden railroad with wooden rails. Who else would do that?

Not just drawbars and link and pin, but also Janney - American style - couplers, which I bet that they work.

Does the man also do clockwork? His artistry looks like it's a development of that tradition.

Many thanks to all!

I will give a short info of your replies to Martin and I think that I can give you his reaction. But This will be in some days. Today he and his friends are on return journey to Switzerland, a 600 miles trip.

And, DrJolS, the Janney couplers are working, of course! And I will ask him if he can build clock works from wood? I think that this will not be a very great problem however you should give him a bit time doing this.

Thanks again for all your friendly comments!

Not so much "Will he," but "Has he?"

I was asking more whether Martin developed his skills on clocks, but, now that you mention it, there are a couple of structures in his display, so a clock to the same scale would be awesome.

These models are beautiful.  Are these static models?  Or do they actually run like fine Swiss clocks?

@ Alex, @ Den, ...

Thank you very much! I will like to inform Martin about your posts.

Den, these all are run capable models and are driven by a radio-controlled battery powered drive. I have seen their free and quite rolling quality. Really an excellent work!

I will ask for availability of video clips.

Wood trains - running!

Here a nice addition - the Canadian 4-4-4 Jubilee on its maiden run in 2014.

Look more videos on YouTube channel of Hans Feuz, the friend of Martin and builder of the most smaller models. Enjoy!

True Dead Rail

Now that's true Dead Rail, battery powered & radio controlled modeling. Very nice Bernhard.

@187, There was an article in Model Railroader about him back many years ago. He made the front cover on that issue.

Other marvelous woodworking

I have seen pictures and a video on a Southern California native's wood working of railroad items - 20th century steam engines. To see some of his fantastic works of art, see:

On YouTube, with Huell Howser (railroad carvings starts at about 18:10 into the video):
