Gday all been reading these blogs and articles for years and never really posted much. Both My son's layout module and my own have been at a standstill for a while and we are now working to get things going again in the train room...

I just had a massive cleanout of the spare room to get the floor space cleared out just so we can walk into the room without needing life support and a day pack...lol

All that aside, here is Old Ply industrial getting the love it deserves. I will post in Youtube feeds just to make as little reading as I can for everyone.

Layout Update #8

Hi again...Just captured a small progress update on the camera for this weeks update...

I have added two sections of base board to improve the space behind the track and create another module at the north end of the layout which used up the remaining plywood in the shed.

A heavy lift forklift kit was painted and assembled for the timber industry and more fencing has been installed to the perimeter of the scene.

Old Ply Timber industry Branch update # 11 The Timber Trestle

Hi Everyone...

Finally I have found the time to complete a model I started so long ago. The Timber trestle bridge that has now found a home on the layout extension gets a weathered finish.

This has taken me all my courage and a fair bit of research on different techniques but I am happy with the results on the relatively simple method I ended up using.

I hope this entertains as much as it informs...

I stumbled across these today and watched a few. I like seeing the progress as you go. It looks like things are moving right along. That bridge came out very

Somehow I fat fingered this. Anyway I think the bridge came out very well and I appreciate the step by step demo of how you did it.
Cheers,

Thanks Clarence, much appreciated. I have just been trying out things that I have not attempted before and decided to try and film it at my own peril or glory...not sure yet...lol.

Hi All I have had a little time to put together another kit for the Old Ply branch...this time it was a plastic Rix products Small Engine house.
I enjoyed putting it together but that was just a portion of the project. My plan was to record the entire build and produce it as an installment on my YT channel. Geez what a mission it turned out to be...10 hours of editing with the introduction of a bout of Covid after the initial build has dragged this out for over 2 weeks. I was already down with something before the bleeding C19 got me and am still absolutely buggered.
Hope y'all missed out on a full hit of the virus because I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Anyways...here is the product of my many weeks of effort.

Thanks for any input.

Well  what a surprise...
I was flicking through this months awesome MRH mag and to my surprise found a photo from this blog...taking a second to regather my thoughts I realised the editorial as gracious as they are had listed my vlog as one of the top 5 forum  blogs his month.
I am extremely humbled and feel privileged to be part of this extensive database of modeling and rail knowledge known as The MRH Forum...
There are so many talented and experienced profiles on here and I do not see myself on a level even close to most of the modelers I am surrounded by.
Everyone here deserves great thanks for sharing their knowledge and helping support such a great hobby and community.

If I can add to what a great man in the hobby has always said ...

This is the greatest hobby in the world...
Cheers everyone for posting up.

Update 13...Kitbashing a Walthers Aggregate loader to create a Woodchip loader.

I have recently been working on piecing together a structure to appear on my layouts Timber manufacturing scene. The Woodchip loader has been built by using parts for 3 main Walthers kits.

I still need a lot of practice weathering but the results speak for themselves. Hope you enjoy the update.

Hi again fellow railroad fans!!

Hope you are all well...I have been doing a few things around the layout slowly and filming a little as well...I painted up some 44 gallon drums and Wood pallet kits...they came up great...and also applied a hairspray and scatter foam treatment to some cheap Ebay trees I recently received by mail.

I posted below the pics and links of whats been going on. Thanks to everyone that posts up and shares their methods...absolutely enjoy flicking through all the treads on here and learning so much about modelling techniques.

I also added a quick test on my DC/DCC block control module made by WiFitrax in Australia...these guys have been running train direct with WiFi decoders for years and also cater for full switch and signal controllers as well using an application and add on PCB modules.

Enjoy the updates and thanks again for the kind comments.

These are Peco brand drums and Pallets weathered by myself.

Hi Again Train Peoples!

Another couple of installs from the train room!  The layout is really starting to get there now with the back scenes from Train Junkies arriving and getting installed. I have laid down more asphalt and hard stand areas for the planing shed scene. More info below...

I put together a short "100 Subscriber" mile stone update film to cover the progression of the Old Ply Timber industry Yard...

Put together some Bullfrog Switch machines from Fast tracks...ready for install now.

Got a generic home made PVC pipe static grass applicator build completed. Still waiting for material to true test the tool but found it worked very well at standing up bamboo shavings of the table.

I also took delivery of some amazing 1/87 scale Truck and trailer models from Mini Metals range. I have included a short film on these as well.
