Jordan

layout1.jpg Hello, I have recently started working on my shelf layout in my garage again and have decided to change up the scenery.  I have removed the background trees and replaced them with an industrial warehouse background buildings.  I am not sure of what industry I am modeling at the moment but I am leaning on more of a food processing industry.  Please feel free to comment and check out my Youtube and WordPress blog  http://mycsxlayout.wordpress.com  Thanks!

Looks good!

looks good, like the warehouse.   Even the background reminds of the winter sky in Western New York, all cloudy and grey.   Great work.

I Like It!

I live in the Midwest and your scenery is spot on.  I could swear I've been at that crossing.  Very good work!

Silos

Looks great. I’m curious about your silos, how did you make them. I’m struggling with my own silos right now, so I’m interested in how to make them.

Paint Color for Your Gray sky

I was wondering what paint you used on your sky.  Hoping to do something similar eventually....

Thanks

Sky?

I really like the modeling I'm seeing here. I gotta say that I don't see the sky. I must be missing something......I do see off white textured sheetrock....is that the sky?

Sky also...

Good, it isn't just me. Excellent modeling. The "sky" is the only distracting part of it to me. That textured wall kinda sticks out like a sore thumb behind all that great modeling.  Nicely done video too.

Jordan, very effective and great looking layout. Who is the maker of the bulk material semi trailer next to the silos?

re: Sky?

Funny as the comment prior to this one is complimentary!

I have the same wall in my temp location here. I have photos cut to shape stuck on the wall with putty. Helps to distract from the texture of the wall. You could always sneak in a backdrop made of masonite or another thin material.

Great modelling btw! Love the simplicity as well.

Very Nice Industrial Scene!

That is a great looking scene you've got there Jordan.  The composition is excellent and very realistic for such a narrow space.  I'm curious as to what the length of the warehouse building is?  I'd guess 4 or 5 feet?  I like the scale of it anyway, it just looks "right" and showcases your locomotives and rolling stock as well.  Good work.

It looks white in the photo's.  I also get light blue latex from Lowes.  In my case I chose the Valspar "Clear Blue Sky" as it's labeled on the color card.

Here is the the Valspar Clear Blue Sky on the walls in a layout construction photo.

I agree.  Modeling looks great.  But the white in appearance textured sky is a distraction to the great modeling.

Re @ jimfitch

Hi Jim, thanks for the comment.  I agree the textured wall was something I had not thought about.  When I move in the next year or so I'll keep that in mind when I build the next layout.  Here is a picture of the latex paint I used from Lowes by Valspar, paint code Skywriter, 4008-9A.  Also here is a picture of the wall where the surfaces are not painted are shown.  I believe the led lighting I'm using is causing it appear more white but I think it does the job.

Too much? (lol)

Yeah. Too much tiny and/or saturation. You get the idea. Photos can be edited pretty easily but I’m not sure about the green ceiling.
