The start of this is in the Kansas City West Bottoms, sort of a TOMA, if you will.

This is in HO scale, based on the UP mainline from Kansas City, Missouri to Lawrence, Kansas, which will include a much reduced section of Armstrong yard in Kansas City, Kansas after the UP tracks cross the Kaw river, pass through Bonner Springs, where it is crossed by Santa Fe Leavenworth Branch.  Running along side the UP for much of this distance, there is the electric Kansas City Kaw Valley and Western (KCKV) using Baldwin Freight cabs.

At the east end, and shown in the photo in the first comment below in the Kansas City Public service elevated line which descends into the street about halfway across the bottoms having emerged from a tunnel which descended from 8th and Broadway in downtown Kansas City.

As planned, the layout will essentially be a switching layout with each TOMA connected by trackage, with TOMAs for West Bottoms, Armstrong Yard, Bonner Springs, and Lawrence.  Only about 140 feet of main line, but interchange between the UP and KCKV at Bonner Springs.

The first building I'm working on is in the photo in the first comment below is the Peppard Seed elevator, which is just to the upper right of about photo center.  Using modified DPM modules for the lower two stories and scratchbuilt upper 5 stories.

Photos of my mockup for this building to follow.

Chuck this looks like it will produce a very interesting layout. All the switching possible and the character of those classic industrial structures will really make for a great layout.
