Just to share with you the existence of this amazing model.

I had the chance to see severals time this fabulous model in the Dortmund toy fair which happens each year in april.

This amazing locomotive is the work of a german; yes a bit crazy .

This live steam model works like his prototype, she is not a simplified model but an accurate steam working model; she run on track of 7.25 and I believe is a 5' scale ( not sure of the name sorry).

Some real features are reproduced and are actualy  working on this model, like the possibility to put high pressure steam on the low pressure cylinders to add power on the start, real working air brake, real steam powered water injector, sand when slipping, real steam generator to produce electricity to lighting, there are lubricate mechanism to lubricate important part of the machine and as a summit a working steam stocker to put coal into the crate of the boiler. All the model is roller bearing equiped includind the connecting rods like the late Y6B.

Further, the model is well proportionned and well detailled just like his counterpart in Roanoke (just there since one of two years, the last one still existing).

The below pictures are mine taken at the toy fair; at this time the locomotive was running but not fully completed and unpainted; now nearly complete she is painted and roll time to time ....in germany.

On my last picture you can see a steam powered compressor but there is an another one on the other side of the locomotive, you can also see all the tubing for air travel and the steam line to provide power on the steam powered accesories.

The builder is also working on another N&W models, I believe a class J.

I also join you links to You tube about the running locomotives but also the stocker.

     she is running

     she is powerful

      the amazing  steam stocker

    again the stocker;

In this last video, the first german locomotive unpainted don't run with coal but with  conventionnal gasoil, I see myself this locomotive running, she house a small oil burner , run fine but smell burned gasoil

She is just beside the Y6B over the cab.

Time to build

The construction of this locomotive has a estimated time of 10.000hours on a period of ten years.

Anyway AMAZING

Update from last week

Last week I was at Dortmund Germany for the last time because I move in Canada.

Course It was a real pleasure to see again this model, and the already build frame of his sister, a class J

I have had the pleasure to speak with the owner a long time, and have had some more details about these models and their construction.

Here is an Update I will share with you

The N&W Yb6 like the ongoing project of N&W 611 are entirely scratchbuild, when I say entirely,  it's entirely.

Yb6 has all the stuff the real one has, and working of course,  including  :

Power booster allowing high pressure to be injected in the low pressure cylinders to have more power at the start, steam water injector, steam working lubricator pump, steam powered air compressor, working air brakes , powered steam reverser, steam powered generator, steam working powered  stocker between tender and boiler, steam water pump to fill the tender, entirely with roller bearing including wheels and connecting rods, all the wheels are equalized and have working springs suspension including the tender.

The brake stand show in the cabin is really working.

She run with coal.

50 minutes are necessary to start and heat water to make her running.

The boiler has receive a special certificate because she is out of the normal admissing heat surface and boiler pressure and volume for small models in Germany.

The J class is Under construction but will feature the same kind of mechanism like the real one.

The model is build by a German modeler, numerous video's are visible on You tube; say my before post in this topic for some links.

The model is showed every year  at the international Intermodelbouw toy fair at Dortmund where I was last week.

First pictures are before the YB6 was paint, she is now painted, she rolls around 200 hours a years and when speaking with the owner last week the only trouble was a roller bearing in a connecting rods which failed !

J class is Under way and is asking two or three more years to be complete, not show, the boiler is already build.

Everything on these locomotives is build by the owner, from CAD files and worked in his workshop, only the wheels and other parts where cast following his plan in a outside factory; the locomotives is to the scale.

The Yb6 seems to develop more than 110 horse power.

Almost a shame to be painted,...covers up some beautiful detail work.
