Greg Williams GregW66

About a year ago I lost all my Model Railroad Planning books due to a water leak. I am interested in reading Ken Patterson's sectional article from the 2008 issue. Would anyone have same that they could scan and email to me?

Check out eBay

Check out eBay ... I found a copy on there for sale: $4.44. I also found a collection of issues: 2006 to 2012 for $20.

Thanks Joe

I did but the shipping to Canada is prohibitive. I have a US mailbox but am waiting for my passport renewal so going over is a bit of a hassle. I found one that was $3 shipping but over $17 to Canada. Don't get me started on the price of Canada Post. LOL.

Just so you know, Kalmbach is still selling this book

Just so you know, Kalmbach is still selling this book and making copies of content for others is illegal. Yes, yes, I know it's a tiny infraction in this case. But where do you stop? Is 4 pages okay and 6 not? Or maybe 8 pages? 10 pages? How long after the camel gets his nose in the tent do you find the whole camel is now in the tent? I will let this thread ride this time, but I think in the future anyone asking for others to make them copies of copywritten material will be removed from this site. The problem I have is this thread now is readable by anyone (including Kalmbach) and records for the world a small but real copyright infraction that's been permitted on another publisher's website. If our name isn't already mud with Kalmbach, this certainly won't help. So I now go on record as saying we will not support this kind of request on this website in the future -- in case Kalmbach (or any other publisher) is reading. You won't be able to access our audience for copyright violations. Sorry about that ...

Kalmbach will probably make you a copy for a small fee

Greg I suspect that Kalmbach could copy and e-mail them to you for a small fee as a pdf. I believe they did this for me once in the past for something that was in their back issue section but no longer in print. They might be very helpful.

That's what I will do ...

I will buy a copy either from eBay or direct from Kalmbach as suggested.

Yep, that's a good option

Yes, contacting Kalmbach is a great option. They have a service where they will make a copy of something for you out of a back issue or past book for a small fee. It's very affordable and that's also the completely legal and above board way to proceed. That's a great solution. It's also worth remembering in case this comes up again.
