Ontario Eastern

Would it be possible to have a list with tentative dates of MRH release dates, and if delayed updated with the date.  I find I'm always looking the first of the month for the newest issue

OFFICIAL ISSUE RELEASE DATE: FIRST MONDAY OF MONTH

The official issue release date is ALWAYS the first Monday of the month - March 6 in this case.

If you're a subscriber, the last weekly email of the month also lists the next month's issue date. Check last Monday's email blast: March issue release date is March 6th.

Don't know how it could be more plain than that ...

I suppose it could be on the homepage... something like: Next issue coming March 6th.

Okay done

Okay, done. You may need to do a force refresh on your browser: shift + F5. People who don't visit the site as frequently will see the new updated page - it's only all you MRH regulars who may need to do the force refresh ...

Fixing hit and miss emails

Quote:

The best way to fix that is to add MRHnewsdesk@mrhmag.com to your email contacts. That way it's less likely any given email will be flagged by an automatic spam filter as spam since they generally try to deliver emails from your contacts regardless.

Okay, done.

Nicely done!   Maybe that will put an end to this repeated issue.

...now how about a hokey countdown timer to go with it?... < wink>

Forget counting down to the next issue...

I want a countdown to the next TOMA video!

You mean like this?

I tried to add it to my signature, but Drupal wouldn't let me.

How do I speed up that clock?

How do I speed up that clock? Some mags get in early and it seems it does not take long to go through them. This one that I usually read every page seems like it takes forever to get here. Must be because I find it of value.

Check the home page NOW!

Okay, check the home page NOW ... it has a countdown counter on it! My timer differs from Jeff's because I set the time to Monday, March 6, 8 am Pacific - which is about when the big come-and-get-it email blast goes out.

You know I was only kidding about the timer, right?

Although I have to say, I like it, it has BIG EVENT written all over it.

COUNTDOWN TIMER

That is really annoying.... The March Issue Coming March 6 is ok, BUT THE COUNT DOWN TIMER IS JUST WAY OVER THE TOP...... THE EMAIL NOTICE ALWAYS WORKS FOR ME.

I'm starting to think maybe some people might need to talk to someone, in a professional position, if they need to have a hobby magazine on a specific date and time, this is starting to get a little odd???

Cheers,

Rich S.

I can't remember the last

I can't remember the last time I looked at the home page, but I think the counter is kind of funny.  I bookmarked the "recent posts" link long ago and that's my entry point.  I either download the issue when the topic shows up on the forum or when I get the link in email.

I figure, since Joe's giving it to me for free, it will get here when it get's here.

Now if I were an advertiser, or a paying customer, I'd feel different.

It's handy

The posting was fine, the concept for the timer is fine...however your comments about how some people may need to talk to someone in a "professional postion" are not.  You are criticizing those like myself that do have to see someone to get better.

It's the size

Yeh, it's the size of the free timer, no doubt. If the numbers were a lot smaller it might be less annoying. Big event? Hmmm. Might be more appropriate for the APRIL issue, don't you think? (Ornery wink)

Change the timer

So it reflects, the time left in 10ths of a second and that is all for April.

Making an observation

Not criticizing, only making an observation, there is a big difference. How do you know that I'm not seeing someone in a "professional position"? So please do not pretend to lecture me, when I'm only making an observation. My opinion is just as important as anyone else on this web page. Why did you feel the need to post this message on the forum and not email Joe with your question? Now how about the people who are now bothered by the LARGE COUNTDOWN TIMER ON THE HOME PAGE OF THE WEB SITE?? LOOKS LIKE A DOOMSDAY COUNTDOWN CLOCK.

Joe, if you feel the need to lock this thread, fine with me.

Cheers,

Rich S.

We're also getting thumbs up emails on the timer

We're also getting emails from readers who really like the countdown timer. We'll probably reserve using it only on the months where the first Monday is almost a week in and people are getting ancy about where the new issue is. My other thought is to move to the last Monday of the previous month for issue release. That way we're always early, sometimes by almost a week. More like what Kalmbach does, only not as extreme like releasing the April issue in early Feb.
