Good stuff.. I like that you

Good stuff.. I like that you gave thought to having a shelf under the layout on the same bracket system.

Isn't this layout featured in MR for the month of June ?? If not it seems mighty close

Well not intentionally.

Well not intentionally. I favor Ian Rice's trackplans so I'm quite sure it shows a lot of similiarity to anything that he has drawn up and presented. Construction on this actually started last October and has been moving ahead slowly. I'm pretty sure that I would have noticed anyone sneaking into the house to take more pictures. I haven't seen the June MR but I can guarantee that its not my layout. Its interesting though, I don't normally buy MR now I will have to go at least look at the June issue.

Shelf Layouts

I just order Ian Rice's Shelf Layouts book. Kalmbach sent me an e0mail that they shipped it out to me today so I don't have it yet. But your layout sure looks good. Could you show us more of it? Am I wrong in thinking what you are building is a switching layout?

I piggy-backed the book on a Mother's Day order from Amazon.. I can't wait.. his other books were excellent.

Thank you but its barely in

Thank you but its barely in the beginning stages at this point. Construction has halted till after trip to a convention for my other hobby in Dallas. So construction will move forward after May 20th. I have plenty of kits to build and locomotives and rolling stock to strip down and repaint. Scenary will begin to move along as well. I'll be working back to front on this one.

This is very much a switching layout. On the right side will be vertical staging (which you can see in Ian's book as well as Issue 38 of the Layout Design Journal). On the left side I'll have to go with some type of cassette staging since it exits that side at the front rather than the back of the layout. That's my expansion point for taking over the rest of the living room wall.

I picked up Ian's book last week. It has some good stuff in it and I always enjoy reading his books.
