I picked up a Laser Art Structure Kit the "Drayton" it is a very small house but very common near the railroad tracks. I was really impressed at how quickly the kit went together with the tab construction and adhesive backing on the trim pieces.

I also decided that I would upgrade the building by adding a back door and indoor plumbing, well at least a small addition to allow for a bathroom. I also mounted the house on a piece of pink foam so I could add a little bit of scenery. I decided to add a small yard, vegetable garden and flower beds. I still have a ways to go on both the building and scenery but would say I am more the half way there.

Next on the agenda is to finish the foundation of the house and do the roof.

For the space around the house I am going to focus on finishing the flower beds.

A view of the back of the house and vegetable garden.

Thanks

Your pictures are great and give enough information to attempt to "kitbash" a similar structure from my parts bin. Got others?

Nice house

Greg

You have a nice house.  I really like the way you used different siding for the addition.  It really enforces the fact that an addition was made.

Great Little Scene

That will be a great little attention getter on the layout Greg. Well done little kitbash.

Thanks!

Jim: I figured that with Mr. Humphrey lived in a small house he would be pretty frugal, he probably got a great deal from the reject bin on the siding =) I also just kind of liked the way it looked where it did not match 100%, I enjoy the storytelling aspect of model railroading especially when it is not all spelled out.

Kevin: Thanks Kevin, I still have a ways to go, but being more than halfway done and only about a week into the project seems promising.

I am still trying decide on a fence, I am thinking maybe a short chainlink fence, but may go with a wood fence...

I have been trying to work inside to out, so I still have a litt ways to go before i commit on a fence style.

Good Progress

Real nice. The plants and flowers really make the scene. Chimney?

Thanks Alan

I really am happy with the garden and was happy how quickly it came together.

As for a chimney I think Mr. Humphreys will have wood burning stove, so I need to find a good smokestack.
