Great photo and very interesting scenery. We need a few more picture posts from European modelers so we can "steal" some ideas other than those here in the U.S. It's nice to see contributors from around the world.

I agree

Great modeling is great modeling, no matter the subject.  I'd love to see some good models of steam in Soviet Russia, for example.

Now this is what I'm talking about...

I can appreciate your modeling as well.  My own interests lie in West German prototype circa 1970, and I hope to be able to start a layout with this theme in the near future.  My plan is to combine the best of European and North American ideas in one layout and see what I come up with.  I hope my scenery can come close to what you have done.  And I love those turret cab diesels (they remind me of the DB V100s, among others.)

Well Done

Nicely framed photo of excellent modeling. Cool to see trains I have not seen a hundred times before.

Outstanding!

Great use of color and texture.  What product are you using for the tallest grass?

Tall grass

Thanks for all the kind comments. The tall grass in the foreground is "Wildgras" from Heki (no. 1575).

Artistically Impressive

Your use of scale and color is right on. The lighting and overall frame of the scenes are very nice. It is also nice to see photos of layouts in progress showing  bare plywood right next to half done scenery, next to completed scenery. Its neat to see the details in the making. the shot from the backside of a peninsula maybe, showing blue foam, with spray foam on top  with plaster gauze or paper.

Once again well done and thanks for sharing.

I am moving on with scenery

I am moving on with scenery work on the left side of the peninsula. Here is a "before" and a "during" shot. Hopefully the finished scene will be ready shortly.

That's some nice looking modeling

Is the photo at the top of this thread shot on a module taken outdoors using natural sun? It looks freakin' real!

Spotlights

Thanks for the nice comments! The picture at the top is taken under normal layout lighting (spotlights). You can see them in one of the other pictures. The picture at the top is actually shot with my small Sony Ericsson mobile phone

I'm currently experimenting

I'm currently experimenting with background color. I think I've found a light blue color that works fine. It might be a little too blue, what do you think?

Looks fine

It's always hard to judge a color in a photo, but it looks reasonable.  I have found blending in a lighter shade of blue near the horizon is effective in giving skies a more realistic appearance.

White Balance

I think it looks pretty good - maybe a custom white balance on your camera can improve the output?

Blending

Colors are always hard to judge. For these photos I've just used my mobile phone. Blending in more white near the horizon is a good idea, I think I'll try that. I will also have to try to paint in some distant hills with trees. It will be exciting to see how that turns out as I have never painted anything like that before

Trees?

What are you using for the broadleaf vegetation in that last photo?  I like it!

Trees!

The trees are from German manufacturer Mininatur. I think they call them Sihouette, and they are a variant of the "Super Trees" marketed in the US as "Silflor".

Beautiful!

Beautiful Scandinavian layout! One day I want to build a Scandinavian layout too, based upon the narrow gauge of the Roslagsbanan. But this project will have to wait a while....
