YD Team Bob-Mike-Gene-Randy-Jim-MarieAnne

At (YD),   http://www.yankeedabbler.com/ Gene, Mike and I have had the pleasure of working with Tim and Ring Engineering developing and delivering  a new HO model RR technology.  Touch screen DIRECT Radio controlled GUI hand held controllers.  Rail Pro is now on the scene and it is Fun and Fantastic. It is now available at dealers and is on the http://www.yankeedabbler.com website along with Rail Master speakers. This new technology is going to change the way we PLAY. What Bill Gates and Microsoft delivered to computers (Point and Click) is what Ring Engineering has put at our finger tips. We can now pick up an HO engine with an LM1 Ring sound decoder and the Ring HC1 controller  and operate on any train club HO layout. (DC, DCC, NCE, Digitrax). This also breaks the 4 digit engine number barrier and multiple clubs can operate on an interchange with the same engine number without interference. We ran at the Timonium, Md show on a huge interchage and multiple layouts.  My 4 year old Grand son spent 4 hours the other day running his Ring engineering Diesel while dodging our Digitrax Duplex and Ring Engineering Steam 'ies on a large layout. We had a ball playing TRAINS ! Welcome aboard. Happy Rails   Bob (727) 457-9227

Links

The link to their website seems to work fine for me.

I would however change the link to go to that actual product page not the homepage, and if it were me, I wouldn't just have a standard eCommerce page. The pages I saw just show three products, your basic eCommerce site, but they don't explain what those products are or how they work. There is nothing there to explain how they stand out from the crowd of DCC equipment.

IMO, if you have something revolutionary, you need to explain to your visitors exactly what it is, how it works, and why it's different. That'll also help you rank on Google. You're post here gets me interested in looking at the product, so I go to the website expecting more information. What I get, is a standard eCommerce website with no information about the product at all. So I left.

Fixing as we speak?

They were both coming up as http://www.ya when I tried it a little while ago.... Now the 2nd one seems correct.

Hi Ken

Thanks for the input and when we actually get our advertise page on line with the magazine I will make sure that the link to RailPro will take you to the product. Our web site is a work in progress and we are model RR'ers ouselvesr  so we certainly appreciate your comments. Hopefully you will return in August once we get going.

New Sponsor?

Didn't realize Yankee Dabbler was a MRH sponsor. I have purchased from Yankee Dabbler in the past and have nothing but good things to say about them.

Welcome aboard MRH.

Yankee Dabbler; Integrity

I happen to know this Yankee Dabbler guy personally. I will tell you that I can count on one hand the number of men I have known in my 55 years that are of the breed that Bob is.

You will never go wrong associating with him or maybe buying something from him. There are none any better in my book.

Great!

Another thing I like about MRH...

I had never heard of this company before this post.  Looking forward to doing business with them in the future, I hope they ship to Canada.

Thanks for coming onboard with MRH!

Waiting For August

Hi Bob,

I hope you didn't take my comments too sternly. I've just been doing websites for a long time, and have made a lot of mistakes. I figure if I can help others avoid those mistakes, I'm doing a good thing.

Your description at the top of the page sounds great, which is why I went right to the link you gave. I was looking for more information. I don't have a need for your product at the moment, since I don't currently have a layout, but I have a list of products and manufacturers I will be buying from soon. If I can get a better idea of how the system goes together and works, chances are good that I will buy from you when the time is right.

If you can show off what you've got with video, even better. People will sit and watch a 10 minute video even if they won't read a 30 second paragraph.

So, what is it?

Dear Bob,

So, for those of us who are a little slow on the uptake,
(both mentally and in model loco control system terms),

is this a commercial version of the DWiDCC system?

http://members.iinet.net.au/~backway/OzDcc/DWiDCC/DWiDCC.htm

http://members.iinet.net.au/~backway/OzDcc/DWiDCC/DWiDCC-Decoders.htm

http://members.iinet.net.au/~backway/OzDcc/DWiDCC/DWiDCC-AMRM.htm

I also see a reference to "sound decoder", what kind of sonic performance/specs can we expect?
(full 16bit PCM sound files, processing, and D/A output ,
or something more "current DCC level" :-( ?)

Happy Modelling,

Not terribly important or relevant to the substance of the post, but for the record, Bill Gates and Microsoft did not introduce "point and click."  Steve Jobs and Apple did that!

I do believe the credit ...

... for point and click actually belongs to Xerox PARC - they developed the mouse concept before Apple was incorporated.

UPWilly:  True, but I don't believe they ever did anything with it commercially-Apple did it and successfully.

What is it?

Dear MRHer's,

Whether it's "point n click" or not, and who came up with "PnC" is not particularly relevant to me,

I still haven't seen a response as to whether this is DWiDCC in commercial form,

or something else,

and what the audio performance of the decoder is intended to be...

A lack of direct relevant information doesn't bode well for potential sales,
no matter how "earth shattering" the product is...

Respect and Regards,

Happy Modelling,

Well actually I would say it was Steve Wozniac who introduced point and click, since he is the brains behind the technology that founded the company.  Jobs is just the marketing guy that stole the company from him and turned it into a gadget factory.

ON TOPIC.

Glad to hear that Yankee Dabbler does ship to Canada with good rates!

Having Fun and follow up on RailPro information

Ken

We never take constructive criticism as a slap in the face,

This hobby is all about having fun and avoiding aggravation.

Hopefully you will think the  August sponsor ad is a good first step in making sure, when the time is right, you will become a happy YD customer. Hope to see you down the tracks real soon.

I have talked with Joe about having MRH do a video of MRH playing with the RailPro.

In the MRH ad there should be direct links to the YD home page and a  link to the YD August Specials page.

We personally  have Digitrax Duplex lay outs with Digitrax Sound decoders and belong to Digitrax model RR clubs. We also highly recommend Soundtraxx decoders and RailMaster speakers

I just finished the text of the YD teams impression of the Rail Pro and hope to have it posted on our web site tomorrow night. I hope that it is  a significant information improvement over the initial Blog that we entered.

Happy Rails

Bob and the YD Team

Here is the text that I will be putting up on the YD web site tomorrow night.

Exciting NEW Products!

           Wireless Model Railroad Control System

with Color Touch screen Handheld Controller!

RailPro products by Ring Engineering are professional, and very easy to use model railroad control products, which can be enjoyed by beginners and experts alike. The HC-1 is a wireless controller with a color touch screen that can be used to operate your model railroad layout.  The HC-1 can control the speed, direction, lights, and sounds of locomotives and other accessories by simply touching the screen!  RailPro products are equipped with Direct Radio and are designed to work together.  Direct Radio allows the RailPro components to communicate with each other without any wires!  Direct Radio is very fast, giving your RailPro products quick response to your controls.

A complete system from Rail Pro includes a power supply, the HC-1wireless handheld controller with a color touch screen and the LM-1 Radio/SOUND, 9 Pin NMRA plug module that you can install into a model train locomotive. A locomotive with the LM-1 module installed can also be powered by placing the locomotive on a DCC layout. The HC-1 is a rechargeable battery powered wireless handheld controller with Direct Radio controller that communicates with the LM-1 engine. The HC-1 Handheld Controller has up to 12 hours of battery life on a single charge (8-9 hours with a bright screen setting).

RailPro is so easy to use that YD’s four year old grandson operates his locomotive using the HC-1 on our large Digitrax radio controlled duplex layout. He also has taken his engine and HC-1 and run on both Digitrax and NCE large DCC model train club layouts.

YD demo’s the capability of controlling two locomotives, at the same time, on different modular layouts in the same room, at model train shows, using a single HC-1. You can control several locomotives form a single HC-1. Further, multiple HC-1’s can be used at the same time to allow additional family and friends to enjoy your model layout!

One of the many impressive features of the RailPro system is how simple it is to consist locomotives.  You will only need to set one adjustment to get locomotives with even different motors and gear ratios to work very well together. The one adjustment that needs to be set has an auto set feature.  You can actually setup different locomotives to run well together in under a minute After the one time setup on the locomotives, you just need to press the link button and touch the pictures of the locomotives that you want to run together!  Without you even knowing it, the locomotive modules will communicate to each other using Direct Radio to be sure that each engine is pulling its share of the load and runs smoothly together. There is also no 4 digit decoder address restriction, so multiple club members can own the same new Turbine locomotive and run them at the same time on the same layout.

The http://www.ringengineering.com web site has detailed descriptions and information on all their products. Our email address is yankeedabbler@aol.com and we will try to get answers on all questions you may have. YD is excited and is having fun with this new touch screen technology. Hope to see you down the tracks.  The YD team gives RailPro  a Two THUMBS Up !!!          Happy Rails from the YD Team.

What is RailPro

Prof Klyzlr

I agree with your following statement and that is why I always point people wanting expert technical specificatons to the experts. In this case ringengineering.com  for Rail Pro, digitrax.com for digitrax, soundtraxx.com for sound decoders and railmaster.com for speakers.

"A lack of direct relevant information doesn't bode well for potential sales,
no matter how "earth shattering" the product is.."

We are model rail road hobbiest that have a great deal of fun  and try to pass what knowledge we have along to others. Here is the information that we will be passing along to anyone who is interested. We will also share our expertise freely with anyone that asks.
