I just noticed this in the May NMRA bulletin.  Has anyone used it?  I am constantly striving for zero locomotive stalls due to track and loco condition so it piqued my interest.

HMMM!

The ad is worded as a "As seen on TV" commercial. Be afraid, very afraid!.

Hmmm is right

I bet it's something readily available like CRC 2-26 that somebody repackaged and is charging a lot more for it in a new package.  The applicator looks an awful lot like a drafting pen, but with the miracle "never stall" in place of ink.  For $19.99?  You gotta be kidding me.  Pick up a can of CRC 2-26 from the hardware or electrical place, and some applicators with thin tubing from various suppliers (Micro Mark?), or if you really want to go the whole way grab a drafting pen from an art supply place so you can duplicate the entire product.

Buyer Beware

Not that I believe them but the ad says "Removes Oxidation". CRC 2-26 will prevent oxidation but I was unaware it would remove it.

Re: Buyer Beware

I don't know what's in that stuff, but for the price it better clean my track and then get up and do a pole dance on the dowels holding up the second deck over my staging yard.

Graphite works for me, and a lot cheaper,...

Dear RF,

Graphite, sold in art supply stores as "woodless pencils", works for me under Aussie conditions...

And a "pencil" @ around AUD$5, which lasts for years, is a lot cheaper,
(even if you only want to "experiment" with the technique)

OH YEAH and I bet you think the world is round too.

Hay wait before we all start bashing the little applicator with CRC 2-26 in it some body needs to try it out and review it to see if it is as good as it claims.

IF it is CRC 2-26 then I'm set for life I have a small case (6 pack) and so far since I used it the first time my trains don't stall of haven't since I wiped all my electrical contacts with the stuff once 5 months ago.

The rampant speculation in your replies is really helpful...

...and I apologize if this reply on my part sounds snarky but my question was if anyone had tried this product and if they had any success with it.  All I've gotten is people stating it's too much to pay for CRC 2-26 and suggestions for other methods which I didn't ask for in my initial question.

Again, I'm sorry to be snippy about this but when a question has a series of speculative replies that essentially "pile on" (I think Dan makes the point far better than I do) I suspect it may intimidate someone who might have something substantive to say about it into not speaking out.

I've already been in contact with Daylight Sales who stated it's not CRC 2-26 but contains a patented formula in a mineral oil carrier.  They are unwilling to reveal what the active ingredient is to protect their product secrets.  Does this mean it could still be a lot of smoke and mirrors?  Absolutely.  They did say this is a new product and that several OPSIG and general NMRA members were part of a beta testing group.  Any chance one of you is on these forums and could share your experiences?

End of Rant.  And apologies if anyone feels slighted in any way but all I really want is to see if anyone has used/heard of this.

Thanks!

No Offense Taken, But...

When a product is offered in a package that small, for a price that big, and making the claims it is, well let's just say my BS meter gets pegged.  If the stuff works as advertised, great, but I'm not dropping $19.99 to find out.  Good luck to ya, and report back.

Does $15.95 from an MRH sponsor sound better to anyone

Customer rating "fair!"

I noticed that Litchfield's "customer rating" for the product is 2 stars out of 5.  They don't say how many ratings they have received or if a person has to have bought the product before they are allowed to rate it, but at the price I would expect a better rating before I would consider buying.

The rating system at Litchfield Station  is over simpified.  I just gave it a middle of the road rating and it is at 4 stars now. I wanted to see if number of raters would be provided, it was not. plus I never purchased the product. So take it at face value.

Looks like to me a repackaged DeOxIt pen.  Have one of those.  Seems OK, but no better than some other products like No-Ox etc.

Bruce P. Used It In Jan. Issue

In last month's NW2 article by Bruce Petrarca he used the product in photo 31.  Since the original post addressed whether anybody had used it maybe Bruce could chime in.

I suspect....

It's just another version/formulation of No-Ox which has been around for years and years. Linn Wescott talked about the virtues of No-Ox back in the 50's or 60's.
