Cool to watch

Thanks for posting the vid. Nice layout. Certainly are no speed restrictions in place. Those switchers are hustling!

I'd like to see the friday video fun grow

Guys:

I'd like to see us really get Friday video fun going strong. Think outside the box - not only do we want to see your own video posted, but if you find a really cool YouTube or Blip train video you'd like to share - post it here!

You can use the media button - looks like a film strip - to easily post YouTube or Blip videos inline. So lets see some favorite YouTube or Blip videos get posted here too!

One of my favourites

This is one of the many reasons why MRH sponsor, Rapido Trains, is one of the top new companies out there (if you can still call them new).  This is how they recorded the sounds for the upcoming FP9 model being released (hopefully) later this year.

Rapido Sound Taping

That was a joy - one that only a model railway enthusiast will appreciate according to my unimpressed wife.  Now will have to tell Rapido to get crackin' on an N scale version (checked on their website - just HO - pitty).

I've bugged Jason on many occasions about an N scale version.  He hasn't committed to anything, but given they are doing more passenger cars in N, maybe it could be in the future.  I've still ordered several of the HO model though.

FP9 Video

Love the Star Trek font on the video. Too bad no one ever made a DS9 locomotive. Interesting that the copyright date on the video was 2009. I would hope the model is out by now.

Train and water = fun

Some time ago I found this video of a train plowing through a bit of water.

FP9 Not Quite Out Yet

Greyhart, the development of the FP9 took a long time, a lot because of ensuring the details were just right, such as this video of recording the sound for it. I can't speak for Rapido, but I think they've done a lot of extra engineering on things like the no-warp grills that were in ads in MRH and MR over the last few months. I'm sure they spent a LOT of time getting the nose "just right" as well and when you see their current sample, it looks fantastic. There have also been production issues on other products because of the things going on in China as well. I'm hoping we have them in our hands before the end of the year. One thing I don't think anyone who has bought a Rapido product can deny is that they do their absolute best to get it right and I'm more than happy to wait for that.
