Hi all, I am somewhat new to this hobby and yesterday I was programming my intermountain dcc loco and just completely out of the blue it has bricked itself and is not having any power or sound emitted. The track is getting power and running fine as all my athearns are responding and running fine. I believe it something to do with the pickups or internal wiring somewhere which is a shame that a brand new out the box model is already broken in some way. If anyone else has any other ideas please reach of to me with them

Is it possible you

inadvertently changed the loco's address?  Are you programming on the main, or on a programming track?  What system are you using?  Are you using Decoder Pro, or are you just changing CV's using your DCC system?  Answers to all of these questions will help others help you.

I think I may have

I think I may have inadvertently changed but I can't remember what it would have changed to. I know for sure I programmed it on my main which was my first big mistake. And im only using the base cv programming on my digitrax dsc 52. Ive checked each and every wheel and pickup point with my reader and everything is showing power it just wont turn on or do anything. :/

Two possible approaches to fix it

There's the easy way - research how to do a factory reset of Intermountain's decoders then do a factory reset of that decoder.

Then there's the hard way - make a list from 0000 to 9999.  Then try sending commands to the locomotive going through the list of all 10000 possible addresses.  My suggestion here would be to start with 03, then all of the other addresses of all locomotives you own, then try whatever CV numbers you may have tried to program the other day as addresses and the data you think you might have tried to enter (for lighting, or braking, or whatever) as addresses.  If all else fails, mark off each address as you try it and step on through.

Good luck - and I'm not being sarcastic.  I've got no other thoughts about how to do this.

Unless you took the shell off and poked and prodded about, it's very unlikely the wires inside broke.

Reset loco number

Reset loco number to a known value following the instructions in the DCS52 manual.  If unsuccessful try to reset the decoder.  Then contact Intermountain customer service.

Another easy way to see what

Another easy way to see what is going on is to put the locomotive on a programing track that is connected to decoder pro and read all the information on the decoder. You can then scroll through the screens and find the address and everything else that you might have changed.

 I hope this is helpful.
