Here's hoping you and yours are having a wonderful holiday season! If you have some time, and would like to experience a little of what it's like to operate a local freight in south central Connecticut in the Autumn of 1948 (or at least get a taste of what it's like to operate on my layout), grab a cup of coffee & settle in for a ride up the Valley Line. The post is very heavy on photos, so I won't copy/paste them here, but if you're interested click over to my website here. Hope to see you there!

Inspiring!

Chris - The time it took to take the photos and journal the trip must have taken as long as the turn itself! Thanks for that as I have been out of the train room for too long (although it was to build three modules in S scale). Time to get back to the “big build”.

One thing I noticed was the pink foam landscape that just begged for some sculptimold, paint, and basic static grass. All the other scenes look fantastic and, based on your latest FB post, you are in the swing of things - scenerywise.

Thanks for taking us along.

Cool...

Cool, thanks for the ride.

I like your waybills.  Where did you find that, or did you make it?

thanks

Thanks guys!

Thanks Neil! Yeah - even Deb says I need to do a lot more scenery - even just doing the basics would be sufficient to start. So I guess I should find some time to at least do that! :^)

@Randy: They're basically a standard waybill form I found (maybe from Tony Thompson's blog?) that I then modified a bit in Word. What I *really* would like to get to (eventually) is waybill for ALL my car movement - generated by a computer so I don't have to keep filling (and refilling) all that info by hand all the time. I think Dave Ramos (New York Harbor RR) is already doing what I have in mind, but I haven't been able to get with him yet to work out the details for the Valley Line. :^(

And, That, Folks,

Is why we do that. Very entertaining, and a good illustration of why we spend so much time and effort on the hobby. It's just fun to do.

Nicely done!

I love the Essex scene.  The Dickinson warehouse looks great, and I had a good laugh as our oil man is Paul Burdick - it must be a family business!
