VO-660 Put to Work

Thanks for including my photo in the December 2020 MRH.   Here is one more with the Baldwin at work.   Again, thanks Steve Hurt for the weathering on this one.

That river scene...

...is just perfect!  Blends so well into the background, very well done.

Slow motion dump

I was using the slow motion feature on my phone to see if the new 'coal deflectors' (white quarter rounds on yellow clamp bars) were working to keep the coal out of the clamps.  The clips were fun to watch so I put a few together with some epic music.

Great work as usual

Paul that is still some amazing modeling.   Scott the river looks great, if the fascia was cropped out it could be the prototype.   Bob the VO looks great that way, thanks again for letting me in on the project! It was cool you got included in the new issue with it.

Mine for the week.  I added a couple shots in the December workbench thread already.  This is the Pocahontas Supply Company truck that is displayed in Cass Wv.  It is a normal fixture in town that any of you that have been there have seen I'm sure.  I built this as a Christmas gift for my father in law.  It is kit/scratch bash in 1/25th scale. Although not 100% correct it will be close enough for his book shelf.  I originally decaled the lettering but it was to perfect looking compared to the prototype which is handlettered and NOT buy a sign painter.  So I removed them and hand painted it to look a little more like the 1:1. I still need to make a license plate for it and will add the taillight then.  Enjoy, Steve

My hi tech scene (sarcasm)

here is the mess I put together to try for some low angle shots. I always like when I see what shots look like behind the scenes so to speak.

Ground cover...

The ground around the Pocahontas Supply truck looks great.  I like the mud especially.  Love to see a thread on creating that part of the scene. Very well done.

Great photos and video.

Scott your bridge scene looks phenomenal. I saw it on YouTube a few days ago. I appreciate the content on your channel.

Paul I really enjoyed your video.

Steve great work on the diorama and supply truck. I know your father in law will be happy with that. I look forward to seeing your projects each week.

Before and after

Been away for a bit, haven't touched the layout since July before a couple of days ago but I got on a small roll and here's what's happened since I last posted my Oil Dealer area here. First photo is where i left off in July with the road worked in. I did a little work on building the depot in between now and then but the majority of the work was done the last couple of days. There is one more building left to build and place, then on to details and a general spruce up.  I really need to build my grass applicator. I have areas begging for it.

Those deflectors certainly seem to be working, as far as I can tell. Outstanding modeling. I wonder if the prototype could learn from your model...

Farmhouse 2.0

Been fiddling with this scene for years. The house is a Laser kit, American Model builders, a go to kit for beginners to experts alike. I also have some trains somewhere.

@Steve

Steve, great looking truck and overall scene.  One can certainly add much more detail in the larger scales.  I particularly like the debris, tools, leaves, and dirt in the pick up bed.  Pieces of firewood, too.  Great job!

Thanks guys

Brodie, glad you enjoyed the truck and scene.

Al, thank you.  Kinda your style of a project.  FYI, you contributed the wheels on this one so you get some of the credit.    Large scale does add the space for more detail that shows. It also shows off screw ups though. Ha

Thanks Chris, I try to have fresh projects as often as possible, glad somebody enjoys it!

thanks, Steve

BNSF Cyclone Local

Once power for Santa Fe's hot intermodals, BNSF GP50 3165 and D8-40BW 561 have been downgraded to local service. The pair are seen here leading the a short train back toward Sioux Falls on the Madison Subdivision near Wentworth, SD.

3165 is a recently finished model, a Blue Box that I painted, detailed, weathered, and added DCC and LEDs to.

Still lots of detailing to go but the first scene on the layout is shaping up nicely.

GC Laser Stakebed Truck Body

Finally got this assembled, stained and painted last night. I have two more different ones to complete but can't find the Classic Metal Works type of trucks for sale anywhere.

That truck has so much character. I'm so glad to see it replicated in a smaller scale.
