Just completed two CNR Maintenance-of-Way vehicles to add to my layout, the Trenton Subdivision in N Scale. 8D20CC8.jpeg These are resin and metal casting, Magnuson Models Hi-Rail crew cab trucks that I purchased several years ago. Decals are Highball Graphics CN MOW, Microscale Canadian flags and Hazmat placards. For the solid cast windows, I first applied a layer of gloss black, followed by a coat of Tamiya Clear Green. To finish I filled the window void with Testors Clear Parts Cement and Window Maker and covered it with Humbrol Clear Gloss.

@Roger

Great job on the trucks, Roger.  I'm a vehicle enthusiast (HO) and can't imagine trying to work in a smaller scale, as futzing around with painting, decaling and adding details to HO vehicles is challenging enough.

BTW, have you ever tried Tamiya "Smoke" paint for windshields?  It sort of dries "mottled" so it looks like the reflection of a cloudy day (lots of those in the Pacific Northwest).  And it is semi-glossy as is, but for more gloss, a quick coat of Tamiya clear gloss improves the reflection quality.

I'm enjoying following your posts here on MRH!

Thanks, I will give that a try. Always had issues trying to make solid windows look good.

Those look good Roger. For

Those look good Roger.

For the glass you might also consider a very dark blue, something akin to CSX.

HAZMAT signs should be on all four sides, not just the ends.  For the front try cutting a small styrene diamond shape the size of the decal and glue to the centre bar of the radiator grill.

Keep up the good work.  Always a joy to see a new posting.

Okay, I really confused myself just now.

For some reason when I first saw the blog titled CN MOW Trucks I thought CN meant "Chicago North Western"      () and "trucks" was referring to "rolling stock."

Not quite sure why.
