Last Christmas, I travelled with my family to Hamburg, Germany, where I lived in the 1990s. Being in Hamburg always means to pay a visit to the Miniaturwunderland, the biggest model railroad exhibition layout worldwide. This time, we concentrated on the nicely detailed Italy section.

The upper picture shows a contruction site for a retaining wall at a bridge across a river. The picture below shows an abandoned steam engine rusting away on a siding.

Of course, we also visited the other parts of the layout. The layout is famous for well made indstrial scenes. The next picture shows a hopper car loading facility on the North American section.

On the Sweden section, there is a model of the Kiruna iron ore mine. There, I took a picture of an industrial night scene.

I visited in Nov of 2013. Absolutely magnificent experience! Unbelievable attention to detail, and all of the animations are amazing!

Just spent the past hour browsing through the Wunderland website, totally amazing dream work

I remember hearing of this place while i was still in the Army, One of my Fellow NCO's had spent a few years in Germany and had young Children , he showed me pics and some videos he took . at the time i just thought it was a Club turned attraction.  it is  going on my bucket  list to visit.

Miniature Wunderland

I was able to visit in 2015 and was blown away by what I saw. They must be on every model railroader's "bucket list". The level of model building and the use of technology is superb.
