URGENT! Someone is calling, saying they are from Comfort Inns and they are having computer problems with the reservation system for the 26 the and 27th. To keep your reservation they need you to give them your credit card number for verification. HANG UP!

Follow the Amhurst Sponsor logo go to Accommodations get the hotel number and call them. They are aware of the phishing. They will give you the police number to report the call. They will not ask for your CC number. If you gave out CC number call your card provider.

Never.....EVER....

...give any personal information not found in a phone book to people who call YOU!  If you think you'd like to cover your bets and deal with a potential problem rather than suffer the inconvenience of a lost account or opportunity, hang up, look up the correct institutional number, and call THEM.

Agreed — if you did not originate the call, people on the other end could be anybody. Just tell them unless you originate the call, you don’t do business over the phone, then hang up. If you get a call claimiming to be some official agency such as the IRS, etc, also tell them the same thing and hang up. For legal purposes, these agencies need to contact YOU specifically by name, so they will send a registered letter, NOT use the phone.

I Disagree

I try to keep these scammers on the phone for as long as I can WITHOUT GIVING THEM ANY CORRECT INFORMATION.  I have not had the to deal with this scam, but I would tell them oh okay ah wait just a minute my wallet is in the other room.  Then put the phone down continue with what I was doing and every couple of minutes pick the phone up and tell them that I haven't found it yet and would they mind just waiting a bit more.  The goal is to keep the scammers on the phone in a wasted effort to get your info.  Of course you can ask them for their number so you can call them back. Then pass that info to your State Attorney's Generals office.  Or try to get them to verify your address but using using one of these.

Of course this only works when you have the right mood and the time when I don't its a starters whistle and a click.
