Picked these up

I ordered these from Walthers a few months ago. I think Atlas quit carrying these now. Going to weather them up soon. Also got a Schnabel resin car I'm working on or I should say erecting it; because of the car size.34%20(1).jpg

New Building...

I picked up a new building yesterday at Reed's... and decided to take a few photos and play with the new fog machine for the Halloween party coming up...

IMG_2946.JPG

If you look closely, you can see the Doctor's TARDIS sitting behind the building... I'll be taking it with me to Who Con next week along with some EZ track, to help promote Model Railroading and Doctor Who.

IMG_2954.JPG

The fog effects could be better... I need to have all of the fans shut off next time, and maybe move some of the blue flashes, and readjust my camera settings... but this is the gist of it.

Underpass

This picture is my first attempt of temporary photo setting, in which I blended a TT scale (1:120) model railroad scene of freight trains passing a level crossing into a virtual environment made of edited screenshots from two different computer games. More information on the linked Flickr page.

@Goober. Wow, That is so

@Goober.

Wow, That is so realistic looking. If you cropped out the train track, you'd never know it was a layout.

Those Georgia Pacific are nice; I picked one up at a train show last year.  I think they did a green version a few years back as well.

Goober!

Love, Love, LOVE IT!

 A new take. A different approach. New angle. Bird's eye view. Run it up the flagpole. You've reached new heights.

I think it belongs in the magazine's "Yes, it's a model"

And a shoutout to Dee for his great shadows picture and current thread on the bulldozer. Thanks to Dee and DaveB I'm going to experiment with my loader and try to shine up its shovel edges.

These photos and ideas are what I come here for.....kudos fellas!

@Patrick your roundhouse interior is awesome

What's call is it?  How did you get the realistic camera angle?

Deemiorgos and Rick Sutton'

Wow Gents, I'm so happy you like that pic'. I was just posting and additional shadow pic to accompany Deemiorgos, post.  I also like shadows in model pics.  So, thank you very much for your very nice comments.  This is one of the things I enjoy about posting pics on MRH.  One never knows the reception to a post one will receive.  It's funny.  The pics I think are great, usually go unnoticed. The ones I post without much thought always seem to be a hit'...

Cinematic scene

Thanks, Deemiorgos! Your comment encouraged me to submit this picture to Flickr's 'Cinematic Moments' group. Maybe, it will attract some interest there.

The roundhouse interior photo

The roundhouse interior photo is great.  The only thing that hinders it somewhat is the bright white lighting.  They wish they'd had white light like that back in the day!

Thanks Mark & TJR : RE Roundhouse

It is a Walthers kit. The angle comes from leaving the side door open so you can point your camera in there.

I have a darker version of the shot I thought about posting. It's the added "stuff" from various sources that helps make it more realistic.

Thanks.

Doctor Who

I've been a big Dr Who fan since I was a kid (watching the old 70s re-runs on PBS, always wondering what watching them when they were new was like until the new series came out). I can't think of a single episode where trains really factored into anything. I can only recall the Paris Metro scenes from the Tom Baker classic story, "City of Death" and they were just establishing shots. I also have a TARDIS, slightly smaller then O scale (it was a keychain I found at a local comic book store) and I could place it back into the tree line in the back of the layout. I have a WW2 GMC truck back there that nobody's ever noticed as the trees are that dense. But I'm not into whimsy on my layout. That's not to say I don't find it cool you have one on yours though!

It moves around...

It'll move around a lot on the layout... sometimes I'll see it by a station, others it's in the woods... and still others, it's next to an outhouse in town.

Also, you forget, there was a recent Doctor Who where they were on the Space Orient Express.

I had forgotten that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mummy_on_the_Orient_Express it sort of reminded me of the old Japanese Galaxy Express anime series: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galaxy_Express_999

I was more a Tom Baker/old school Dr Who fan but I have watched the new series when I know it's on (the last few seasons were so sporadic on BBC, I never knew when new ones were coming out so I missed a lot (if not most) of last season and still haven't seen the new female Doctor Who yet)
