At the risk of posting too

At the risk of posting too much I will provide feed back. Joe your collection of articles by topic will likely be a valuable addition to the modeling hobby.

First time publication vs subsequent publication

Authors were paid a good fee for first time publication in the magazine. General rule in the publishing business, especially in the niche interest publishing business (unlike Hollywood or other big business publishing), is to offer some kind of small token benefit to authors on second publication. We will be contacting the authors about this, but it will only be some kind of token gesture as compared to the big first-time publication payment. Authors will certainly get a free copy.

I know of a unnamed competitor magazing ahemmrrahem tends to reuse a lot but not with any compensation for articles i didnt think it would be muchi really feel like mrh is much more generous to both its writers and readers.

Unfortunately, some authors ...

Unfortunately, some authors of the articles we'll be using in this series, sad-to-say, are now deceased. :-(

Author compensation...

As someone who wrote a thing, I never even thought about it... I would be too busy telling all my friends "OH! COOL! LOOK! THAT'S MY NAME!!!!"

A free copy would definitely make me happy... if ever the thing I wrote made it into one of the books. (though, I doubt it would... it's small, and there is so much better content out there in MRH-Land)

Yes, but ... overseas shipping has become extremely expensive. It's $20+ US, and on a $20 book it doubles the price. Yikes!

If you want to pay it, we'll ship it.

P.S. This book will also be available through Amazon, and as a huge bulk shipper, they get superb overseas rates. If you buy the book from them, you'll pay ~$6 for shipping.

How different?

How will this book be different than the run like a dream series?

This Best of book is reprints of articles in the first 99 issues of MRH. It's pretty much construction tips by various authors. Not much regarding performance.

The Run like a Dream series is a very targeted collection of how-to's on getting optimum performance out of your trackwork, rolling stock, locomotives. It's distilled collection of 50 years of hobby experience on my part, plus research to collect the best tips in the hobby around preventative measures, as well as diagnosis and fixing known problems.

I hope there'll be more!

I've already asked, Joe, but I really hope you do a book on the layout visits. Those seem to sell quite well for the mainstream magazines (on both sides of the pond), so surely there's a market for that. You've covered some layout other magazines never touched, and with way better photography than many.
