Is anybody else tired of the same locomotives being released over and over by different companies? The SD40-2 has been done at least a million times. I give Scale Trains credit for upping the ante for everyone but can't we have some other diesels? What diesel do you wish would have a high detail release or a first release.

High-Hood GP20s in GN and BN are very scarce or overpriced and would be at the top of my wishlist.

modern "green goat" or similar

In HO, I'd like to see a modern "green goat" or similar low-emissions switcher. Or aN MP15 shell that has been modified or modernized.

In agreement

I'm certainly a minority, but would love to see a non-Plymouth industrial or small GE road switcher (u18), possibly in a variety of gauges like con-cor did with their geese and pcc? RR

Alco,s

Been waiting for an Alco C415, Bowser announced one but it's been pushed back, a chop nose RS3 or a T6 would be nice.

Would kill for an N-scale EMD F59PH in the Metrolink roadname (build dates: 1998-1994). Can't believe no one ever made this!

Some Really Early Diesels

like an updated box cab switcher like Roundhouse used to make. These tiny engines can operate on virtually any layout. In HO 15" radius is more than adequate. I'd also like to see the early passenger box cabs as used by the B&O (and it's then subsidiary Alton), and Santa Fe. Fat chance on this one. And finally an early version of the VO660 with the goofy grill, etc. All that would be needed would be the shell as it should fit Bowser's most excellent frame and drive.

+1 for the Goats

Dear Mark,

Yep, something other the NRE 3GS21 would be nice. I've had a softspot for the rugged squarish looks of the RailPower gensets for a while, something like an RP14BD or larger RP20BD?

Happy Modelling,

C-415 for me, and info on T-6/RS-2/3 chop noses.

I too, am waiting for those Bowser C-415's in HO scale. Hi-ad trucks too please.

If you can't wait for a T-6 or Bowsers chop nosed RS units, a company called CMR products makes a few basic shells for those willing to put in the detail work. You can find them on the auction site and Facebook.

RSD-12 & H20-44

I second the wish for a H20-44 and I'll throw in my vote for an accurate RSD-12.

The Pennsy had both, shouldn't a problem for manufacturers then, right?

Dear Chris, Didn't Atlas do an RSD12 at one stage? (or am I thinking of an RSD4/5?) Happy modelling, Aim to Improve, Prof Klyzlr

Yes, every manufacturer should make F-7’s, wait a minute they all do! Just think what they could have made instead!

My pick

How about running a series of locomotives from the military? I know they still got a few of them still working about on rail fed military bases. Also I think they got a few yard-dogs (30tons+) switching today. that would a good one to do.

Atlas Yellow Box RSD-12

Prof Klyzlr,

Yes Atlas did a RSD-12 in the yellow box days but it is two scale feet too short. It was perfect for the Southern Pacific RSD-12s rebuilt from RSD-5s, but not for the rest of actual RSD-12 production. Atlas pretty much took their RS-11 and put the 6 axle trucks from the RSD-4/5 under it and called it a RSD-12.Good enough for the time, but not with the models that are being made today.

Military Locos (or similar)

Quote:

a series of locomotives from the military?

How about an RSD-1 (essentially an RS-1 with six axles and a close clearance configuration for duty in Europe).

Or an MRS-1 (1600 hp unit similar to above, two versions: one by Alco, the other by EMD).

DL109 & BP20

I guess these 2 diesels were just never produced in real quantity in real life, so were mostly overlooked by the model manufacturers.

DL109:

I was REALLY surprised when Life-Like (Proto) decided to produce a plastic model of the DL109
,...and they did so in their 'lesser detailed' Proto 1000 series. A little less detailing, but a marvelous running loco at a really great price, particularly compared to the brass counterparts.
i was so enamored with the Santa Fe version that I just had to try kitbashing a B-unit for that loco.

CDL110-1.jpg

BP20
The longer PRR  Shark loco. Another engine that I believe was just never produced in any significant number in real life, so model manufactures just ignored it. I always thought of it as such a 'brute' when you saw photos of it. Yet as a model it could traverse tracks that the bigger 'centipedes, etc' could not.

I saw some attempts at selling a kitbash kit of these locos, but the chassis running gear was just not that great. As I looked more closely at that chassis of the Proto DL109 I discovered it used the same style trucks as the BP20. The chassis just needed to be about 1/2" (or 1/4") inch longer (can't remember which at this moment). Well I have figured out a way to make that happen,..relatively easy.

Just have to find time to finish these 2 projects.

Current Keepers

I think it would be an awesome idea to make sure sound equipped DCC locomotives all came with current keepers, LED lights and metal handrails instead of plastic.

As far as locomotives I think if Bachman released a DRGW K36 in On30 that would be a hit. I would also love to see Kato and Atlas make some modern diesels in HO Scale. New EMD ECO units would be pretty cool.
