delivery.jpg

The latest stock train made this unusual delivery to the Morris feed lot.  Apparently one of the cows, in the pen second from the right, has fainted after seeing the delivery...

The fantastical figures were a Father's Day gift from the wife.

How much per pound?

That stegosaurus will fetch some serious cash, if the railroad doesn't put a number on it and use it on the branch lines.

Very cute. My layout looks like this after the grand kids have 'played trains'.

Humorous Scene

Thanks Tom.  Maybe the N-scale people could sell some of that high priced beef to pay for the construction of the layout.

I saw something similar on an N-scale layout at a local train show and thought that it would be neat to have the same scene on my layout.....John

Violation

It was against ICC regulations to ship fire breathing dragons in cars with a wood floor or sides, and they had to be the 6th car from an occupied caboose or engine.

Next Shipment

Dave,

Thanks for pointing that out.  The N-scale people will make sure that they are in compliance for the next shipment. Most appreciative for the heads-up....

Second corral from the left...

Looks like "Emma" from John Allen's Gorre and Daphetid, A Stegosaurus, number 13, that could be used to switch both standard and narrow gauge cars... She never learned to use the ash pit!

Rick,

Yes I do remember the picture in the John Allen book.  Thanks for reminding me.

Why Not

After all it is a hobby that we can all have fun at while being somewhat serious...

Joining in

We have several dinoasours and other critters on the O scale and HO scale club layouts that the kids really enjoy "finding". We used to have a scavenger hunt sheet we would pass out to visitors and let them locate the items on the list. One brontosaurus on the O scale layout is as tall as the trees he's hiding in, and a lot of people miss him entirely!

Love the Idea

John

That is very imaginative - love the humor.  We are supposed to be having fun - right!

Dragons

If you can get ahold of one of Harry Potter's dragons you can have a good sized barbecue. Permit needed?

Not right now!!!

Until a few days ago there was a widespread burn ban--Dragons not permitted.  I'm planning a whimsical freight car as well; I'm just searching for the right load.  I plan on a space ship, damaged, on a flat car.  The trap is coming off, as troops franticly try to cover it up.

Space Ships!

YES!

I always thought, if I modeled the Transition era, I would have some sort of comical "Rosewell" scene in it somewhere...

I guess all things come back.

I guess all things come back. We have more guys enjoying whimsy again or at least this thread seems to indicate it is making a come back. I remember the famous railroad of John Allen, John Armstrong's puns with things like warm water junction, Manana trees, the postabe railroad and there were lots more. There for a while it seemed like lots of railroads were free-lanced and contained something of a similar nature.

Many times one needed to be paying attention to catch them or they would sneak right on by, like the oscar and piker passenger car kits from walthers. Those were one truck passenger cars and I must admit I always thought they were very well done.

1920's space ships

My era is the 1920's, but space ships are good in any era...

No dragons???

Sorry about the no burn ban. Unfortunately after taking a closer look at the photo I see most of the Harry Potter collection of dragons on the right side of the photo!!! So a invisibility spell is needed before the cops or fire department see them.

On a side note, when my wife gets her beach scene up maybe she can add a rent a dragon for your cook out place???? Have to run that by her.

You are a man of many 'talents'

Dear John,

After following you on YouTube and meeting again here at MRH it is a pleasure to discover the 'details' and humor you've associated with sharing your "Great ATSF". As I mentioned on our conversation on YouTube a model RR is more than just a design and a build. It's all about the 'Personality' of its creator. I have become your fan in very short time and I admire your dynamism, passion and "esprit" to share your wonderful creations (au pluriel)! Wish I lived near Tx. USA !!

Greetings from France & All the best et bon Courage, filip (In French = Philippe - but I am Flemish from Ghent (Belgium) of origin - A gent from Ghent as they say...)
