I have some favorite models that will not always be running on my layout that I'm currently building.

I have limited space especially wall space, as I only have one wall available.

I'm glad I saved my inglenook; I use it to display and store a collection.

I mounted it above my modules. Also mounted two display cases and a floating shelf for non model railroad stuff. like my Greek boats.

I positioned all the displays well above the modules in order to have room to work on it and located them so their shadows coming from the ceiling light and outdoor light from the window will not be casted upon the modules.

Someday, when I have another wall, I'd love to get a big display case to display and store models, but this will have to do for now.

Good idea on the shelves.

I have some sitting on a book shelf, looking for a better place.

I just had a flash back to

I just had a flash back to moving day for one of our club members. We carried a cabinet that could nearly be the twin to that one into his new house! If memory is correct his is a little darker finish on the wood. Last I saw it was in the corner of his living room. On closer inspection I believe the side glass was secured differently.

Displaying and collecting

A subset of the hobby, a mixture of childhood train items, current and future layouts, and prototype spikes from special places, special to me anyway. Also my grandfathers hard hat that was given to him upon his retirement. He started firing on a shay, then later engineered the shays and diesels for J Neils Lumber until the mid 70's. The drawing has him on a handcar, connected to the shay, towing it back to the shop.

Nowadays due to limited funds, I save and recycle many things even a left over strip of wood, which I used and put up under an existing shelf to display my Westerfield and Tichi models; should keep them a tad dust free.

The thing about having a

The thing about having a switching layout is that you can never have enough display cases for the your favorite rolling stock.
