In March 2016, a vacation in Brandenburg state, Germany, inspired me to set up two temporary model scenes in TT scale combining models with real world photo backgrounds.

While I spent the second half of my life in Northern Germany (Hamburg and Lower Saxony), I grew up in Brandenburg state, where I still have my roots. So, that part of Germany is also one of my regular holiday destinations. For the first picture, I used an urban industrial background with a nice old brick factory building.

The second picture, I already posted a few weeks ago in a 'Weekly photo fun' thread. It shows a rather rural railroad environment. The engine is a former East German V60, of which more than 2000 pieces were built. This makes it one of the most built diesel engines outside the US. For both scenes, the special atmosphere was created by applying the Aviary Singe filter.

V-60s

I like your choice of locomotive. The V-60 and its siderods are as interesting as a mass-produced diesel can get.

I wish I had a V-60, but all I managed to acquire was a V-80 (not that I dislike the V-80, but I would rather have a V-60 or a KÖF II)

v60

I just *love* the second photo. The composition is great, and the tone of colors is spot-on. Add to that the subjects and you have a great photo.

My personal preference is the 3-axle V60 of DB. I guess that's simply because of what I've been used to seeing in action growing up

where to buy an H0 V60

Daniel,

An H0 V60 of exactly the same type as on my layout, you can buy here:

V60

Bernhard,

The V60 in my picture is the former 4-axle DR version, now in the HVLE (Havelländische Eisenbahn) paint sceme. Both the DB and the DR versions are nice engines since by their rod gear they resemble a little the steam era.

Always amazed

at the quality of work you do in TT scale Joern. Very inspiring to those of us modeling in 120:1 scale here in the US. Looking forward to your next project....DaveB

Living outside EU and USA

I Live in Brazil, and imports are a kind complicated affair.

I have to pay 7% tax over any purchase on my credit card outside my country, and the parcel will be taxed 60% upon arrival. Add to a quite discoverable exchange rate between our currency and the Euro or the US Dollar and there is not much to do except to drool over any possible aquisition.

Since an extra locomotive is not required to run my home layout (the V-80 and a steam 0-10-0 94.5 have these duties as you can read here), I will bid my time and hope that if/when I need an extra locomotive I can find an epoch III V-60. And hope ESU release a V-60, I was quite sad when they cancelled its offering...
