Progress Update: Basic scenery is nearly complete, and the structure mock-ups are still in place. I hope to start building the actual structures soon enough.

Here is another picture of my efforts thus far:

Your layout is progressing nicely, you appear to be capturing the flavor of the prototype nicely as well.

Thanks for the encouragement

Its been slow going but getting things done here and there. MRH and the forum has been a Huge Help and motivator! The amount of research, tips, and tutorials here is amazing!

I really do have a long way to go, I hope to start on structures soon, including billboards, more phone poles, street lights and lamps, and crossing gates.

Universal Studios backstage tour trams

Now those are an unusual load - I wonder how many they have, where they came from, and over how long a period they were delivered?

Trams - I think thats my Fav Photo

Here is the description and link:

Next to Terry Lumber, no less. Tram cars for the Universal Studios Tour, a few miles to the south on Lankershim Blvd, sit on flatcars delivered by the Van Nuys Local on the Southern Pacific Burbank Branch at North Hollywood, California.

Not much, but something. If I'm not mistaken, I think I was reading somewhere that Universal Studios did get frequent deliveries to the team track. A great rainy day project.

If anyone knows what type of flatcars those are please let me know. I think they could be 60 footers, not sure.

Nice slide show Joe. You sir

Nice slide show Joe. You sir are well on the way to a very interesting and scenically appealing small area layout. Your scene composition is most appealing.

Wow! Thank you for sharing!!

Hello, Survivaljoe. You did it again! What an excellent skills you have!! Like Rob in Texas said, the scene is well designed. Just like LA valley area!! The color of the road and concrete are perfect to me. the space around the track, utility poles and size of structures everything well composed! Thank you for sharing! I'm inspired!!

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Thank you for all the comments, this forum has been a huge help. If I need to find something, I search the forum first.

I have a mini update here, I added some locks and hinges to add a bit of operational fun. The turnouts have a keyed switch and the red combo lock is for the gate at the bakery (which will be installed soon, eventually, never at this rate lol)

The locks aren't connected to anything and the switches are operational without having to use locks as well. Those are just there for that extra element.

Plus, my wife said they make the layout look "manly" (no joke, her exact words) So if anyone is lookin' to impress the ladies, add locks, the more the better because they look manly!

I also did a quick assembly of my first backdrop building which came out great but I need to repaint it as I'm not happy with the color. No picture yet.

Thanks for reading!
