Right, I've been waiting

Right, I've been waiting since Shane reported in August that they would be announcing their initial line of HO an N scale trains in Novermber at Trainfest.

We've been aware of the Evan's 50' box car kit in the value line for a couple weeks now, so now waiting on the "rest of the story" as Paul Harvey used to say!  Trainfest is here so now it's time for the other shoe to fall.

Standing by in Virginia, Jim

Yeppers, saw those posted on

Yeppers, saw those posted on another forum.  James, the Youtube reviewer just posted an interview with Shane and introduced in detail his UP turbines, tank cars and value line box cars.  Great start for ScaleTrains.

The Turbines are beyond

The Turbines are beyond gorgeous. I've never stolen anything in my life, but the thought was there. Thankfully, I'm too smart for that and besides I sold all my UP stuff last year and the turbines will not fit on my layout. TrainFest was sort of fun, awfully busy and packed which I know is good but bumper to bumper is no fun.

Glad to see they had lots of stuff for the kids to operate, they are our future.

Saw Joe but he was too busy for me to say hi.

Gorgeous is right - out of my price range too, even the lowest price turbine is more than my most expensive single purchase.  They should make some UP fans very happy and I hope ScaleTrains all the success.

Then there's the operators line and classics line

They also have their operators line and their classics line. Right now it's just cars, but they may do locos in those lines too. They are intended to be the most economical, with the classics line heralding back to the days of very moderate hobby prices.

Yes, I was commenting on the

Yes, I was commenting on the lovely UP turbines - IIRC the non-sound price is $425 but entirely worth it for UP turbine fans.  They look exquisite.  Being an SP fan I splurged a few months ago for an Intermountain cab forward with Lok Sound since I never had a steam engine and wanted one for something different - at $375 it was the single most expensive model engine I have ever bought.  God bless my wife for encouraging me to buy it but it's back to more modest things for a while!

We really are living in a great time for the hobby with so many high quality accurate products hitting the market such as what ScaleTrains, Athearn, Tangent, Intermountain and ExactRail are offering.  It's frankly hard to keep up with it, even limiting myself mostly to 1970's D&RGW and SP related items!  As it is my hobby budget is pretty much committed to the Athearn SP SD40R's and a few more tunnel motors in the next few months.  After that it's the Wheels of Time bulkheads!  I just can't keep up with all the great stuff coming out.  It's insane but in a good way!  =P

It does look like ScaleTrains is off to a great start.  I do like how they are offering different tier's of products, even on the same item, which will help folks try to fit into their own budgets.  I tend to go for higher quality items when I can manage it but with a restricted budget, it's just one or two here or there.  The classic line Evans box cars should be welcome for the budget minded.  It is curious that they decided to offer something which Atlas has essentially been offering for over 15 years - I already have a bunch of from Atlas.  At least the price point will offer an alternative to the prices Atlas is currently charging ($27.95 vs. Scale Trains mid teen price!)

Looks like a great company.

Looks like a great company. Love the fact that they will be making kits. So far everything is too new for my era but I will watch should they build models of older equipment.

What else?

Any neat new concepts or products from the structure makers and some of the smaller players in the business?

Any more photos? I am curious

Any more photos? I am curious to see some of the scaletrains couplers. I also heard rumor Scaletrains was giving away box car kits, was that true? If so does anyone have an extra one for me?
