One thing that would in my

One thing that would in my opinion entice more folks to switch would be to have more sounds for diesel engines. I heard one sound clip. It would be nice to have a listing of several different ones where they could be found easily. If one is updating or considering changing for many folks the shortage of appropriate sounds will give the dcc guys a tremendous edge. Steam sounds would be good as well as a way to synchronize them.

@Rob

The sound library is constantly growing, and new sources are being found for updated sound files.  Many of the older diesel prime mover sounds are in need of higher quality recordings, and those should be coming through the pipeline in the future.  New steam sounds have been released (heavy and light) and more on the way including a Shay.

Synchronizing steam chuffs in Railpro is pretty straightforward.  Because you can make adjustments to locomotive settings in real time as the locomotive is running down the track, you can adjust the chuff rate until the chuffs hit exactly where you want them to be.  Do this as the locomotive is at a constant speed, and it should be synchronized throughout all remaining speeds.

Railpro software doesn't yet support cam input, though the LM-2S does have two inputs that can be used for this purpose if for whatever reason it was added in the future.  This shouldn't be needed as you should be able to synch chuffs as I outlined above.

Sounds real interesting Kevin

Sounds real interesting Kevin do they have a website that lists the sounds in their library that you are aware of? I may have missed something but I only saw one listing on their web site and saw one sound sample. I have been intrigued by their system for a while for a couple of reasons, one their signal delivery, two the instant speed matching. The hand held unit looks nice as well. I already have a large number of locomotives so the change for me would come at a fairly steep price.

Thanks Bill, that would make

Thanks Bill, that would make sense. As of right now I would be out of luck for sounds for FMs, and many Alco diesels. There are also some early EMDs that would not be represented well. As to the Steam sounds and chuff rate adjustment how is it spaced, evenly or in closely spaced pairs.

There seems like lots of issues with sound reproduction that a manufacturer must over come, I do not envy the task ahead for them.
