Hi Skip, Yeah this is the place . HO scale is very popular so you'll get lots of input for any topics you might bring up. Do you have any favorite railroad scenes or railroad memories you'd like to model?..DaveB

Hi Skip

I'm also from CT and modeling in HO (according to the MRH Members Map [ link] there are at least 7 other HO scale modelers.
Are you modeling any specific era? prototype? or freelancing?

Welcome Skip!

You are one of many recently returning to model railroading.  This is the place to ask questions.  By the way, there are no dumb questions.  This forum is wide open.  Don't be surprised if we ask you questions.  We should be able to save you a lot of frustration and money.

So, what are your interests besides HO scale?  Do you want to model a prototype that you remember as a youth or do you just want to run some trains?

Be sure to check out the back issues (all 58 are available on line). Also, one of our frequent forum members, Bill Brillinger, voluntarily compiles an article table-of-contents, adding to it for each issue:

Go to Springfield show end of Jan

If you're in CT, then you owe it to yourself to attend the West Springfield show the last weekend in Jan. This show is quite possibly the largest in the US, and you're almost in it's backyard! Get ready to spend several hours going through all the buildings - it's simply massive, with 5 buildings at the Big E Fairgrounds.

Welcome to the forums skip.

Welcome to the forums skip. There is also a nice depository of track plans on site courtesy of Bill. And many posts covering most things you would want to know about building a layout. If you don't know ask and someone on here that does know will tell you. Just wait a bit and you will have all the ways to do it and some of the ones that you should not use as well. It is likely that all of them will be discussed and you will be able to decide what is right for you.
