  1. Get some free software for designing your figure from Makehuman;
  2. When you have your figure designed the way you want it, export it in a format Shapeways can work with ( these are the formats Makehuman can export in, note .dae, .obj, .stl)
  3. Send it off and see what you get back...
  4. If you want to get really fancy, see what it might take to do the same figure in different scales.
  5. If you do a search of Shapeways with the term "Makehuman" you will find some samples that were apparently done using the tool.

I can't CAD my way out of a wet paper bag, so I'm just passing on this teaser.

Now that truly was a teaser. Think how much fun we could have with designing likenesses of the guys in our railroad club. I'll bet there is a market for a Leroy, everyone will want their own.
