Hello

I have received numerous requests from my YouTube subscribers (QNERailroad) to post my layout's track plan, so I thought I'd give this forum a try. I don't know how well it will show up, but here goes. I added some colour to the visible level track plan to make it a little more readable. It's not perfect. It still needs scenery/ground cover and a hint of ballast, but that requires more time than I can spare at the moment. The hidden staging track plan includes the two helices. Enjoy.

Q & NE

Looks like a very active railroad.  What are the room dimensions?

Q&NE dimensions

Hi Jeff.

The layout occupies about half my basement. The layout is an odd shape but at its deepest point it is about 19 feet and it is 29 feet wide.

QNE

Sheldon,

Is the QNE modeled by Jim Reddington  the same railroad as yours or a totally separate  model that just happens to use the same name.

Wonderful layout Sheldon.

The Other QNE

Thanks Philip

From the look of Jim's photos his QNE seems to be based on an actual area that ties in to CP's Connecticut River line in Vermont. My layout track plan is not based on any actual prototype location but I like to think it is either a poor copy of the New England Central (with my junction standing in for Palmer, Mass.,), or perhaps it represents the south end of what might have been if the Rutland Road became the QNE in 1961 instead of the Vermont Railway, connecting to Montreal via Lake Champlain and Rouses Point and Boston via Bellows Falls and Keene, New Hampshire. Fun to think about but not knowing for sure has not stopped our crew from enjoying our operating sessions!
