The Model Railroad Club of Toronto has been rebuilding its O scale 2 rail Central Ontario Railway.

Having lost its long term lease in the now ultra trendy Liberty Village (old downtown factory district) in mid 2013, efforts have been underway to build a new version of the Central Ontario Railway.

After deciding on using some of the major components of the old layout (major yards with 100s of switches and 1000s of feet of handlaid track) we have incorporated some of the old layout into the new.    Now with a bit over a year of room prep, benchwork, trackwork, electrical, DCC integration and lots of effort, the "patient" is now off life support and is slowly coming back.   Test runs over new trackwork have commenced.

A pic showing some of the benchwork... this shows about 20% of the layout.   Temporary high bridge in foreground has 77" clearance.

Another pic showing the new main entrance to the Central Ontario Railway, whereby one must enter under the graceful Coleman Arch bridge, built by Irv Coleman in the early 1940s, and now serving on its third model railroad.

Congratulations.

Way to go folks you have certainly come a long way in a year. Also glad to hear you're making the switch to DCC.

Keep up the good work.

good to hear

Glad to hear you guys are rebuilding.  It's tough to start over when you lose your place, and sometimes it's too much for the members and the club folds altogether.  It's looking good.
