It has been a long time since I have posted on this. My precious Mother past away after 3 year battle with more problems than she should have had. I stayed away from my layout for awhile. But finally I started working on it again.

Almost all of level 2 track work is complete. I have been running trains over the track with very few problems. And I fix them along the way.

I have been building structures. Simple ones. I have never done it before, and it has been fun. Scenery is starting next. And I am building and painting a back drop. Again all of this is new to me. It is a learning experience.

I had a friend come over from China (he is a pilot and he lives there). We ran trains together when we were little kids. I have not done that in 30 years. It was really Deja Vu'. But I really enjoyed running trains with another person. We had 2 trains running and it was really fun seeing trains running past each other.

I am a lone wolf out there, and progress is slow. But I may have to rethink some of the "work alone business." I see that there is a lot to be said for running trains with someone. So in the future, I will have to develop some friends to come over and run trains. Or find someone to go over to their house.

Anyway, I will post some pictures in case anyone is interested in the progress. It is nothing like some of the layouts I have seen here, but that is ok. It is a hobby.

I hope everyone is well.

My condolences on the loss of

My condolences on the loss of your mother, I went through that with my mother in the fairly recent past, still seems like it any way. Glad to see you are working on your hobby again it will help get past a lot of the sadness.

I went back and scanned your posts and found that you listed Southern Cali as home and that you have a very nice plan coming along. If you every get to East Texas stop by our club you are more than welcome to come in and run trains with us.

ETMRC.ORG should get you to our web site. If Google begins acting up you can just look at east Texas Model railroad club in the browser and it should let you find us. If you or anyone else wants to stop by we are in Commerce Texas on Pecan Street next to the new Fire station in the old gym.

yet we plod on

I found after the death of my Dad that my hobby helped a great deal, as it always has in fact.
For a while I'd just go out to the shed and sit and listen to podcasts..maybe lift a tool and poke around. As time passed I grew more motivated and the tools got used more and more.

So as we all plod along our paths in life with all its' ups and downs that go along with it, those little trains are there ready to keep us on the level.

So welcome back. It's time to have at it.

Lesson # 465.2

Don't wear your kilt whilst fixing anything under the layout with company present.
