With all of the main track in place I started work on the Doodlebug track which will run around the layout in a "U" shape with stops on both ends and an intermediate stop in Hoovertown.  I wanted a little vertical variety so I used the Woodland Scenics 2% included foam to raise the track level from "base" up by 1/2" actual inches which will be about 44" scale inches in HO.  I'll be using Tam Valley Depot's shuttle control to run the trolley.

I try to use my dog food cans as weights when I can (can-can) since I happen to have them.  The radius on the curve in the picture below is 28" and is going through the future Hoovertown.  The Doodlebug track will pass through a tunnel in the yet to be constructed hills in the right rear of the room behind the trestle.  Oh, so much to do!

Wrong Thought Process

Rick, Congrats on starting the new doodlebug line, it's going to be great! But there is a wrong thought process that needs to be addressed.

This: With all of the main track in place I started work on the Doodlebug track...

Should have read: With all of the main track in place I took a break and started running trains.

Strange visuals

I had some really strange visuals of a dancing doodle bug and was not sure how you were going to pull that off. Great to see the layout has some of it operational.

Dancing Doodlebug visuals...

...and somehow I've now got a visual of a mildly roach-like critter in a 20-50s zoot suit (somehow this just doesn't work as a Rockette style female bug) and multi-color derby doing  a can-can leg lift... It would make a great logo for the side of the car if I could transfer it to paper (my artistic skills are sadly lacking in this, and most, areas).

You've done it now.

Your doodlebug has a nickname! Maybe you claim it rattles, rocks and rolls like an old can going down the track. The railroad operators started claiming that we're going to kick that old can down the valley every time the got assigned to it. The nickname became the "can" job or run. The local kids picked up on it and started saying " there goes the Can Can!" Den
