I went to my LHS in search of a bottle of paint. The color I needed was sold out so I told that man I wanted to order a bottle of Floquil. He told me that brand was discontinued. So I told him to order a bottle of Polly Scale, He told me that was discontinued also. Those were the only two bands that had the color I needed.

Hi!

It is sad that Floquil is gone but here is a handy conversion chart:

Scalecoat...

Scalecoat is still around I believe, and I think that Testors is going to roll some of their RR colors into the Model Masters line.

Other than that, one of the things I've been doing is finding colors that work for my purposes in military and race car lines.  My SN F-3 was painted entirely with Tamaya spray paints, and it turned out well.  Their gloss orange matches my Genesis GP-9 very closely.

And of course

E-bay is your friend.  I scored 2 bottles of Flo-stain a couple of months ago.

Paint Makers

OK it aint all bad;

Tru Line Trains has some canadian colors.  And a user group does the same with Scale Coat paints.
These two are strictly canada though

Tru-Color has a large and growing line.  This is supposedly the same as ye old AccuPaint.

Badger has a line of RR paints in their Model Flex brand.  This is compatible with their other "flex" brands

Of course there is Scale Coat

MicroLux paint from Micro-Mark

Micro-Mark has a new line of acrylic paint called MicroLux - and they're aim is to duplicate the colors in the Polyscale line as much as possible.

There's also the usual suspects...

Testors is still making paints in the Model Master range. There's also Vallejo paints which come airbrush ready and work well. They also make washes and other items that guys weathering might want to check out.
