I went to reply to a question about grout. After I wrote out a lengthy post I was cleaning up some errors, when I hit the backspace key the answer disappeared and I was back at the original post.  I redid my answer and the same thing happened when I hit backspace to erase a letter!!!    I type pretty slow so this is a big deal for me to do it 3 times!!!

Any thoughts?????

Only with Chrome

Since changing from Firefox to Chrome for viewing MRH because of issue with Firefox Flash plugin I have noticed a similar behavior to what you describe. It only occurs with Chrome and when I have copy/pasted into the reply. Firefox doesn't seem to have the backspace key issue. Hitting backspace while typing after a paste operation with Chrome wipes out my reply up to the end of where I did the paste function.

No, But...

While I haven't experienced the particular issue you describe, I have had the site eat a few posts.  If you craft a lengthy reply and don't wish to lose it, try one of these things:

  • Before clicking "submit," highlight your whole post, right click, and hit "copy."  If you encounter a glitch, you can just right click again (or use control V) and paste the whole thing into the editor.
  • Use a separate editing program like Word to compose your post, then copy and paste into the MRH editor.  This is more useful for text, as I find the MRH site editor to be quicker for embedding photos, but text is usually what takes the most time.

If the "cursor" is not in the text box..

...then pressing the backspace key is similar to pressing the browsers "back" button.  It's really not a glitch as I believe the browsers are designed to do that.  Though I could be mistaken about that.

I am using Firefox.............

..............and a PC with Windows 7.  I keep forgetting to write the post in Word and drop it in as a whole.  That might not be totally safe as I sometimes want to change the order of thing after I've hit the Preview tab and poof!  It would be nice if hitting the back arrow at the top left would take you back to your answer but it doesn't.
