Driline

Whoo hooo! (Not to be confused with Choo Choo). Both the viewer and post count surpassed MR this weekend in the Photo Fun Thread. All this in just 4 short weeks.

And of course my bias, but the MRH weekend photo thread is sooooo much better in quality. But I want to stress not every post in WPF needs to be an award winning photo. I'm proof of that. I would like to see progress photo's. How to Photo's and much much more.

keep the FUN in !

I do like this thread, seeing great pictures from around the world.

Perhaps the 'calendar idea' could lead to would-be contributors thinking again before posting.

As much as I admire the fabulous pictures, I won't stop posting my humble achievements, simply because I had a good time making the models etc that are in the photo's

Talking about photo's:

Now what -once- world-wide popular magazine does this picture remind you off ......  or is it just me ?

cheers, Leo

Thanks!

I jokingly called the WPF "Drilin's thread" and he corrected me--it's everybody's thread.  But let's face it, for the most part he's taken the initiative to keep it going week after week for close to two years.  I can remember a couple times seeing TWO pictures posted for the entire weekend. then Driline would be back the next Friday trying to make it happen again.  (You're either persistent or can't "no" for an answer!)

Credit where credit is due!  Congrats everybody on the quality and success of the thread and thanks Frank for the consistent effort in getting it to its current level.

Quality over quantity. I don't think we will ever see a "weathering with crayons" or " How I cut a hole in my diesel to prevent decoder overheating" examples here.

Yep good job!

The way we see it, the MRH community is largely your community and it is what you make it. Taking on a personal commitment to a regular "feature" like Weekly Photo Fun helps make the site more interesting for everyone.

And now that MRH has our new photo section each issue, posting your photos on the MRH website is even more important than ever. If your photo is chose for the magazine, tens of thousands will see it, and you'll get paid for it.

At the end of the day, it's about the HOBBYIST and the cool stuff you're doing in this hobby. It's in our name and become a trademark feature of our home page each month ...

Keep up the good work, guys!

Vinny- Just watch for the thread to pop up each Friday. The next one will probably be titled "Weekend Photo Fun 12-14 to 12-16. They usually are in the "Modeling General Discussion" section of the "Let's Talk Trains" forum. Here's last week's thread: http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/10461

You still might see those things here on the MRH fourm. I believe the hole cutter is a registered member. The bigger difference is that people here won't tell him how inspirational his work is and you won't get flamed for pointing out that cutting holes in a shell to prevent decoder overheating is not a recommended colution

Ah man...

Just when I had my "Weathering the Crayola Way" article ready to submit...party crashers!

Cutting a hole to allow heat to escape seems like an innovative solution, on the surface...are you guys just rivet counters or what?

Disclaimer:  What you see here may be considered humor, or something vaguely disguised as such.  Taking this seriously would be a mistake.

Weekend Photo Fun

Love the Weekend Photo Fun threads, but how about a separate category so we don't have to wade through all the discussions to find back editions?

Easy ... just type "Weekend Photo" in the search box on the upper right. Include the quotes - and there you go! A list of all the Weekend Photo fun threads on this site.

Inspiration

This ongoing series of threads is inspirational in many ways.  Great models, for one thing...and inspiring me to keep going with mine--I want to complete something worthy of posting here.

Just prefer to keep things on topic

Not so much bothered by the beer per se or even the levity, just that it started taking a very much off-topic life of it's own - and that's the part we prefer to keep from getting out of hand. This is a model trains site, not a micro-brewery site. (wink)
