Brass soldering base

This is a neat idea!  Is the workpiece connected/attached to the base somehow, or is it simply rested on the top?

No wonder you were being so careful!

I suppose it also goes without saying that you're in no hurry to photograph THAT engine running on a large rickety agglomeration of assorted modules placed on an unstable stack of tables and chairs.
