A great follow on

To my weighing article form last month.  The one question I have is if there is a commercial firm offering the magnets?  Some of my load in last month's article would be upgraded with such magnets.

Gaming shops have the magnets

Try gaming shops that have Warhammer products, they will have those small magnets.

my source

When I was coming up with this project, I just did a search on eBay for "rare earth magnet" and you get like 13,000 hits to choose from.  There are all shapes and sizes for sure.  I have read on the repower and regear yahoo group that you don't want to cut them as they will fall apart on you.

Odd open load

I would never believe this if I didn't see it my self. In 1975 I rented an apartment on the main line west in Glendale Ohio just out of Cincinnati, Ohio. In the middle of a mixed freight of about 40 cars were 5 gondolas of loose straw. It was flying everywhere as the train went by. Each car was mounded up with loose straw and no tarps either. I assume 5 empty gondolas were set off somewhere. Does anyone have any conjecture as to what might have been going on? Blayne

Loaded by a model railroader?

From some of the models of open top loads I've seen, I wouldn't be surprsed if that one was loaded by a model railroader.  A more serious guess--the consist took off after the load was added, but before it was covered with a tarp.  If it was loose, it was possibly stuff ended in there accidently, or was being stored before being put into stock cars?  Just some wild guesses...

No shipping to Canada?

Hello Doug:

I tried to purchase, but you don't ship to Canada.  Is there a way I can order it by alternate means?

Thanks
