Very nice demo

Brief and to the point, nice flow to the presentation, and nice camera movement (not static from a tripod).   I like the immediacy of the test/demo- here it is, here's the sizes and colors, let's see what we can do.  A great job all-around, Ken!  Couldn't ask for anything better!

Please explain

Quote:

FYI:  I'm trying to follow this tread just in case any thing is posted the might be worth a read,  so please stop deleting or marking my post as spam. I'm sure something will come up about this product.  Thanks.

Forgive me for being dense, but how does posting a meaningless post to a thread constitute "following" ... ?

If you've come up with some clever technique here, you need to explain what it is you're doing - we're getting increasing complaints about "..." posts from you and we have just been scratching our heads over it.

Sounds like you have a trick or exploit you've discovered - if you could explain it to us, then we might have a way to make it a feature that doesn't take threads full of ... posts to implement for everyone.

My guess...

My guess would be that he is doing that to get the thread to appear in "My Recent Posts". That would make it easier to find later.  Perhaps a "follow" button is in order.

Took me a while

Quote:

So I do not have to dig 3 or 4 pages of post.  I look in  "My Recent Posts" and it will show up.  If some one post any thing new I will get the Blue Number next to it.  Other people are doing the three dot thing besides me.  That is how I figured it out.  So I just copied them.

It took me a while, but I eventually realized why you were doing this.  I hadn't seen anyone else use that technique, but I live under a rock.  I noticed in one recent thread where you had a "Follow" post, and I thought the intent of that was much more clear.  My first thought when I saw the "..." posts was that you were trying to bump a thread back to the top for greater visibility.

School glue

so much for following. I have noticed that he used Elmer's School Glue. I remember seeing a demo at the model railroad show in Springfield, MA last Jan. and School glue was the preferred glue to use.

Elmer's School Glue vs. white glue

A note from someone from Scenic Express was posted to the Yahoo Proto-Layouts group a year or two ago saying that Elmer's School Glue is better for static grass work since it doesn't develop a "skin" on the surface as it dries. I've never had that problem with regular Elmer's white glue as long as I work in small areas at a time, but it sounds like School Glue is the safer way to go.

school glue likely gives a

school glue likely gives a bit more of working time than regular white glue, that is probably one reason to use it.  On that thought though, what about the big bottles of tacky glue?  Has anyone used that for scenery/ballast/etc work?

Adding a follow feature

Okay, now that I know what the ... thing is all about, we will look at adding a "follow" feature. Let me start another thread to talk about this more.

So I do not have to dig 3 or 4 pages of post.

Just add a generic "wow, that's cool"  or "Neat idea" comment then your marker posts will fit in..DaveB

Oh, PLEASE no. No "...", no

Oh, PLEASE no. No "...", no "wow", no "neat idea". No spammy ways of marking a thread that will fill it with nonsense. One person doing it is annoying. 2 or 3 make it a mess. A dozen will make the whole forum unusable.

Your browser has this neat feature called "bookmarks". USE THEM. That's what they're for!

Might see more WOW that is interesting etc.

That seems to be the content of a lot of posts. Perhaps you could add some interesting input to the subject to set your's off better? ......DaveB

perhaps we could...

...just have some "follow post" and "share post" options. Surely drupal can do it.

I'm a member in two different

I'm a member in two different German model railroad forums and they have a button that says "watch this thread". If you click on it the forum software will send you a message when something new has been posted. It will only send you one email even if there is more then one post until you go and visit the thread. Then you'll get an email again when some thing new is posted after that. So it doesn't clutter your email inbox.

As it has been pointed out before I have nothing use full to say

Don't go by what they say go by what you feel. If you think you have nothing to say then you won't , but if you think you have something to say then you will. Have you seen any real trains operating anywhere recently, to me that would be interesting to hear? .DaveB

On topic... I think

Does anyone know of a US source for this product?

The video was really nice but how do I get WWS products on this side of the Atlantic? I would like to try the 10 mm grass.

Web

Searching a couple of different ways, it appears the only links are UK-based. As sure as I say that, someone will come up with a military modelers shop in N. America that stocks the stuff.

"due to the fragile nature of the readership here"

They'll just have to survive it :> ) You can't subordinate your needs to other's frailties. Build them up instead of bringing yourself down.  Anyone find a USA source for this stuff yet? Since they gave samples to MRH video they'd probably like to sell some over here? .DaveB
