MRH Magazine general discussion

Question about the bonus rich media

Joe, I'm a lifelong procrastinator.  I always download the magazine with in 1 to 2 days of availability, but it may take me a couple of weeks to read everything in the magazine.  On the expiration of the rich media, If I have downloaded the magazine on time, does the rich media still expire on the expiration date, or is it available indefinitaly to those who download on time but not available to those who wait to download the issue?

NEW FEATURE! Read individual articles online!

If you browse to the comments thread on any article in issue 4, we've now added a read online link for each article.

If you click the link, you can jump immediately to that article in the online Flashbook version of MRH.

For best viewing, click the full screen icon at the top of page - it looks like two arrows running diagonally.

Once you're done reading and want to return to the web site, just press ESC and click the back button.

Easy!

Kindle/etc Support

Searching through older blogs/etc, I see there has been some discussion on this topic, but nothing recent. I travel a lot so having MRH available on my Kindle would be nice. Not sure how much work would be rquired to make this happen.  Seems like ensuring all text is black and all photos are gray scale would get close.

I tried the free automatic conversion that Amazon offers and the results were pretty poor.

I would like to compliment Joe and Crew on a fabulous publication. Very nicely done!

Ballast

Hi Guy's

I was just asking is there any way I can use something else then the regular commercial product for baslasting a layout?

Thank You!!

Subscribers exceed 10,000

Sure enough, sometime today MRH exceeded the 10,000 registered subscriber mark and I missed the fireworks and fanfare... ;o(

Congrats MRH on achieving another milestone!

PDF

Is it possible to upload a PDF. I have tried several ways but can not?

October Issue Download

Joe,

Your new download wizard has created a problem for me. I use Free Download Manager to down load large files as it supports resumed downloads and opens 4 connections to speed the download. As your wizard does not have the "save" option which is what triggers Free Download Manager I had to download at a much slower rate.

Will there be any way in the future to avoid this by having access to the pdf directly as a file for download or is there a way to bypass the wizard.

Thanks,

Dave

Website Header

I love the pictures you post at the header of the web pages Joe, and while I recognize several of them, do you think you could post the railroad names and any web links that the owners may have. Another question; are these submitted to you, how do you get something posted in this area?

Printer friendly version of MRH is awesome!

I must say being able to print out portions of the magazine is great. Deffinately save somebody some ink I hope.

Lots of cool stuff here in MRH for the price of a subscription.

Premium content is pretty darn swell too =)

Question on the printer friendly version of Model Railroad Hobbyist.

When you come out with a printer friendly version, will it be possible to print out specific articles instead of the entire magazine?  I don't need a print version, but could fore see the possibility that there might be an article some day on a modeling project where I might want to print out a blue print.
