MRH Magazine general discussion

Hobby Shop Focus?

Would it be viable, to do a hobby shop focus article in each (or most) issues? Someone could go to one of the hobby shops listed in the magazine, and take some photos, ect, and review describe the shop, interior, location, prices, access, ect...

I think it might be neat.

Where are the printable fliers

I'm heading out early tomorrow morning headed across Maryland,Pennsylvania,West Virginia, and Washing DC and I need to print the MRH flier so I can leave them pasted to the bulletin boards and give them 10 or 20 to pass out at each place. I would have said something sooner but I just remembered I needed them.

Today.......

Hi all,

well this evening I had a blast, enjoying myself remembering why modelrailroading is fun and relaxing. Let me explain......

Season greetings

It's this time of the year ....

You see the engine shed at Naumburg with an old engine type ELNA. Santa and his friendly helper are preparing the train for the enjoyment of the children. (not only the children!)

BTW, the snow is from NOCH, it's removable !!!

Have a good time!

Concrete ramp

Hi al,

first "Happy Thanksgiving" to all... (our turkey's are still save until Christmas, lol)

Ok, today, since it was getting to cold outside waiting on the postman with my Mini Natur order from Germany and with time on my side (went through surgery on my left elbow last friday and home from work for at least another 2 weeks..., but, thank you, feeling better already) I felt it was a good time to do a weathering job on my concrete ramp.

Wharf

Hi Everyone,

I am continuing working on my wharf on my O scale (2 Rail) and my On30 layout and this is the latest, I've added the "finished" warehouse and added some street lights to the wharf.

Below you see a view at night with the lights. The lights are HO scale, brand name: Model Power (No 501)and they come in package of three. They're too big for HO but just right for O scale. Made out of brass and wired. Theyare the cheapest and for the $$$ you can't beat them. the building has flourescent lightbulbs and lamps.

Can't download MRH? Get the first year on CD!

We regularly get emails from people (generally on dialup) who have problems downloading MRH.

So here's the solution - we're making the first year of MRH available on CD for $1 (plus our normal shipping and handling rates, figure $4 US and Canada, up to $7 foreign). While we can't make this free like we can with the downloadable version - we do include a coupon code for Model Trains Video DVDs that's good for $10 off - so if you later want one of our video DVDs, you're money ahead!

SP used a single headblock tie, did any other railroads do the same?

Did anyone else follow SP's practice?

Selling on the web?

I have a few pieces of equipment that I thought I had to have but now that my railroad is assuming a certain form they don't fit. I was thinking of selling them on line. I'm building an Italian (FS) HO railroad (If you have ever been to Sicily you would know why. It's like an HO railroad in full size!)

Anyhow my FS and Trenitalia passenger cars are too specialized for my local market so I was wondering if people have been satisfied with selling on E-Bay or is there another preferred website?

HELP WANTED! Promoting MRH in 2010 ...

We would like to see MRH get more promotion in 2010. That's a given.

It's also true we can't be flying our staff out to every event on the planet and still be able to focus on a bimonthly production schedule where the issue release dates cannot move (see the P.S. below).

So we're calling for volunteers to help. Here's what we're looking for:

1. We're looking for modelers who have been in the hobby a few years who are responsible and trustworthy.
