MRH Magazine general discussion
Be grateful for forever free. . .
I visited World Net Daily's website today (news and opinion) and they are going to be offering an ezine as well, but you got to pay for it and it's not downloadable as far as I can tell.
I'm just grateful for the MRH being forever free. Keep it coming guys!!!
On the other hand, the WND offering is done very well but my first thought was, "it's a bit hard on my eys - it's need to have the light grey background with dark gray letters like MRH."

WANTED: Local Milwaukee volunteer for NMRA National in July
MRH is looking for a modeler who lives in the Milwaukee area and is willing to volunteer to help us this summer at the NMRA National in July.
We're looking for a trustworthy person willing to help us set up and tear down our booth, and willing to help us staff the booth during the National Train show. We will also give you some orientation on what to say to modelers or vendors while staffing the booth.
Jacobsen Vs Katzner case settled - (think JMRI)
As reported by others: "A short while ago the parties to one of the most closely watched FOSS cases filed a settlement agreement with the US Federal District Court for the Northern District of California ending one of the most important F/OSS legal cases to date. That case is Jacobsen vs. Katzer, and the settlement marks a complete victory for Jacobsen, a member of the Java Model Railroad Interface (JMRI) Project.

Legitimate posts marked as spam
A few legitimate posts are getting marked as spam ... don't worry, we're monitoring the spam posts queue and if we see anything that isn't spam, we're letting it out of jail and get posted!
So if your post gets flagged, it's gone into a moderation queue and will get posted in an hour or two once a moderator checks the spam queue.
It's also worth mentioning that the spam filter over all is working well. There's been over 50 attempts to post spam on this site in the last couple of days and the spam filter seems to have caught almost all of them.

Latest on the Wharf
Hi Everyone,
I've been on the back burner for a while. I've been reading your post and staying busy building my wharf on my On30/O scale 2 Rail small layout. Here are some photos of the latest accomplishments. This is a point to point layout. The wharf is the starting point. The ships arrived with different loads and from there it goes to the city. My layout only covers a city. The whole layout is based on a fictitious city in the Northeast. The railroad serves the city.
Staging On A Helix
Does anyone remember an article or sidebar in Model Railroad Planning or anywhere else within the last ten years that addresses the subject of staging within a helix?
Rerailer
Do you use rerailers?
I've built a permanent one for my narrow gauge fiddle yard:

MRH for Apple iPad?
Will the MRH magazine be made available for the Apple iPad? The iPad seems a neat way to read the magazine without having to boot up the computer. I do not know whether the rich content of the embedded edition would be viewable but since the iPad is designed to be a video, music, movie and magazine reader, it would make sense.
Vancouver E&N track plan for comment/advice
Layout plan?
I have a huge space, limited capital, Keen as mustard 5 year old son, who with his enthusiasm for trains has awakened my love of building stuff and modelling. Never thought it would be trains though.
We are fortunate to live in a temperate climate not to cold (no snow) I have a shed that is about 18 metres By 12 metres, so far the plan is to build a island walk around about 800mm wide. With the idea if the lads motivation continues to expand around the walls on a shelf. Start small (ish)
