Publication Dates

I just jointed and am interested in when the magazine is published. I see the July/August issue is coming up, so how many days/weeks do I have to wait to see it published?

Thanks,

Mark

Negative ion generator now available - DEFUNCT TOPIC

Hooray, Model Trains Video finally has the 12V negative ion generators available for $25 each, postage paid, to anywhere in the world.

See: http://model-trains-video.com/MTV-0011.php

This little goodie lets you build your own Static Grass Applicator for way less than the $160 Noch, and the static charge works better, too!

Should MRH go monthly?

We're discussing the possibility of taking MRH to monthly in year 3 ... but for it to work, we would need to alter our strategy somewhat. We're forever free, so that wouldn't change!

The change to allow us to go to monthly is to split the current bi-monthly magazine in two. Today we do circa 150 pages per issue - if we went monthly, we would target something like 80 pages per issue, so the total page count across two months would go up slightly (150 now, 160 as two 80 page monthly issues).

If you look at the print magazines, here's their size for the current month:

Dave Frary's ebooks

I purchased "222 Tips for Building Model Railroad Structures(eBooks)" and "303 TIPS for building model railroad structures and scenery(eBooks)" by Dave Frary.  I found the PDF books to be helpful and discovered at least two dozen new ideas so far.  The only downside I've seen is some info is dated (a problem with all publications) and the tips are sort of randomly covered without a good index of them.  With a PDF file the articles can be searched, so the information can be found.

Blog address in signature line - how to do?

Hi,

I'd like to include an address for my personal blog in my signature line like many of you have done.  Do I do it in the "Edit" section of "My Account", and if so, how do I accomplish that?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheap too cheap? Ceiling treatments

My beautiful bride has given me the o.k. to expand my railroad into the 15-1/2' x 29-1/2' unfinished area of my basement!  My existing railroad is in a finished room in the basement and features drywall on the walls (9' high) and ceiling.  I will be removing the doors on the finished room and exand the layout by going through the walls into the unfinshed area.  I plan on finishing the walls with drywall and paint and had originally planned on using a suspended ceiling.

Trainfest

I received an email from the Trainfest folks in Milwaukee, Wisc. This is going to be a regular video magazine to keep interested hobbyists up to date. The link for the vido  mag is: http://www.trainfest.com/image/ExpressNewsletter/TrainfestExpressJune2010.html

I also posted this in error to the "How do I post a picture" section. Sorry.

Community links

Someone recently posted links. Watch out for Facebook, it is a swamp. There are Spammers, Hackers lurking looking for personal data. Many clueless have been caught.

Just o a Google search for Facebook security. Do a Google search for Twitter security.

My two email account Spam folders gets a lot of Facebook invitations.

By the way, Facebook “Friends” will never come and help you move.
