MRH Magazine general discussion

"Audiobook" version of E-Zine?
This might be too impractical to do, but a thought I just had while making comments in another thread is, what about providing an "audiobook" version of the E-Zines?
How to help with MRH growth?
Folks,
After reading some posts concerning MRH going monthly, the lack of big name advertisers and Joe's "in this for three years" approach, I'm concerned with MRH. I've been giving some thought on what I can do to help. Since MRH was first announced, I have thouroughly enjoyed every issue. The articles are top notch and seem to be for those of us who have a deep passion for model railroading.

"Laminate" vs. "Glue & Screw"
Please excuse my naivete up front but I have to ask this question:
One word in the model railroading vernacular I see thrown around quite a bit is "laminate". I see it used very often when people talk about building spline roadbed, using multiple thin layers of material as load bearing structures on their benchwork etc. and I was curious what if any difference there was between laminating something and the tried and true "glue 'n screw" that I've done for years with basic wood forms.

Plug em' when you can
I recently placed an order with one of MRH advertisers: RSLASER. When they sent me a confirming email they asked where I had heard from them. Of course, I responded that I saw their ad in MRH and that I always try to use vendors that advertise in MRH first to help support the magazine.

MRH is looking for a modeler who lives in the St. Louis area to assist us at the National Narrow Gauge convention in September.
This assistant will get their registration for the convention paid by us and they will also get an official MRH T-shirt. You will assist us with our table at the show, and get to rub shoulders with the MRH staff!
If you are interested, please use the contact us link and select the Volunteer to help at a hobby show option.

Apple iPad great way to read MRH Mag
I have an iDisk Account, and the iPad. So after downloading the pdf version of the latest MRH Mag, I upload it to my iDisk Documents folder. Then I use the iDisk App on the iPad to get the Issue and send it to iBooks. Takes a few minutes to complete the task but MRH looks and feels terrific on the iPad. The links in the Mag are live as well and Safari will open and take you to the link on any page.
The online paperless Railroad magazine just became completely portable and transportable.
ModelTrainsWeathered - Summer Special
Hey everyone, Rich Divizio here, owner of ModelTrainsWeathered.com
Last year around August 1st, 2009, I changed my site to a Subscription site and then all the opinions started
to flow from one Forum to the other about my decision. I have read all the responses.
For those that are interested, come on by modeltrainsweathered.com and form your own opinion. Don't go off of what someone else tells you. For the record, we are not Primadonna's
or have attitudes. What it boils down to is that there are some that like and can handle

A Public Thanks to Jeff Shultz
I'd like to take a moment and publicly thank Jeff Shultz for his great coverage of the NMRA convention. The pictures were great, his comments informative, and I found myself looking forward to the next day's review.
This was a great service for those of us (such as my self) that simply couldn't attend, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing more as it gets posted.
