MRH Magazine general discussion

another great issue, with one minor complaint
Joe and Charlie put out yet another great issue for us to read, and I am enjoying this FREE magazine more than the ones that I have to pay for.
My only complaint of the new issue is the Rapido ad on page 9. I am looking at a great FP7/9, and I would love to have a pair of FP7's in N Scale. The ad is missing the fact that it is a HO model. MRH just got a free pay per click on a model that I have no use for since it is the wrong scale for me. Please put what scale the model is in the ads.
Magazine background color
Just scanned thru the latest issue of MRH and I find it is very difficult to read when the page background in in black. Might i suggest black not be used.
Thanks for the great magazine otherwise.
how do you post photos?
Can anyone tell me how to post photos here from my Photobucket account? I have been unsucessful at doing so, dispite trying several different ways of doing so.
Any help will be appretiated. Thank you

Operating weigh scale
Not sure if this has been mentioned here already, but I had been clued in about this neat product - http://www.bouldercreekengineering.com/scale_ops.php - a while ago, but until now, I had no chance to actually see or use one, but that will change this weekend at a local op session by someone who just installed one on his layout. I thought that those of you out there who are interested in "enhanced" ops, might find it of interest.
Vintage Vehicles suitable for 55n3
You need vehicles to flesh out the model world. I found these vintage vehicles suitable for Scale55 and 55n3.
The 1920 Mack truck is a Matchbox, Models of Yesterday. The other cars and trucks are Lledo, Days Gone By. The steam tractor is unknown and the IHC tractor is an Ertl 1/60. These are vehicles from my S scale days that were really too big for S.
What is 55n3:

2011 NMRA Convention
X2011 West, the 2011 National Model Railroad Convention, will be held in Sacramento, CA on July 3-9, 2011. The current registration fee for the Convention is a very cheap $99! But that price will be available only until September 1, 2010, after it will increase to $139.
Three of the many layouts which will be on tour have already been highlighted in the MRH magazine:

Denzel Washington in a new train movie "Unstoppable"

Site was down for a while this morning - growing pains!
We apologize ... our website was offline for a while this morning because our server capacity was exceeded.
Basically, we're growing so fast right now that our server is hitting the wall! We are moving fast to upgrade to a better server with lots of extra capacity, but that's going to take a few days, so be patient with us.
This is the kind of problem you like to have - because we're growing so fast right now ... wow. Thank you everyone for your support - and we're working as fast as humanly possible to keep up!

Rails by the River
For those of you in or near the Pacific Northwest, don't forget the Rails by the River RPM meet coming up in Salem, Oregon on August 20 & 21. Model displays, maybe some Free-Mo, several well-known speakers and more.

Trains in the Movies Goofs ...
Hollywood has been know to do some incongruous things in films - either they don't know, or figure the audience doesn't know, or they just don't care enough to do things proper like...
