JL&T Railway Blog - Friday Video Fun...

All,

Well had some spare time today and put together a JL&T version for the Friday Video Fun (a day early).  Features the very first complete train to venture onto the JL&T, and into the Conrail - Intermodal Yard...

Hope you all enjoy it...

railroad energy efficiency

Here is an interesting little article on the advances made in energy efficiency by the railroads.

Regarding mpg for trains, there was an answer posted by engineer Al Krug on his website regarding that.  15,000 tons of coal being hauled up a 1½% grade by 6 SD-40's is about 48 feet per gallon of diesel.

It's vital you mention MRH with advertisers

We've got several sponsors who are thinking of leaving us and the reason given is universal:

"We never hear MRH mentioned by our customers, so it doesn't look to us like sponsoring MRH matters."

I'm reluctant to name names because I don't want to deluge a sponsor with emails that look like desperate last minute "shills".

The general point is very valid, however. For this venture to have a future, it's *vital* you mention MRH when interacting with advertisers.

We can't stress this enough.

May issue - dowload problems

Help, I can't seem to download the current issue. Something seems wrong with the links to either the flash or non flash issue, the 'directory' current-issue' is not recognized at the moment, is there something wrong with the server, or with the links themselves?

Cheers!

Koos

MODERATER EDIT: Edited subject line to make it clear *what* this thread is really about - current issue download problems, not the issue in general.

Web Site Speed

It seems MRH is not the only railroad forum that got a speed upgrade. The other magazine's web site is blazing fast all of a sudden. Nice to see everyone is paying mind to the internet fraternity.
