As promised (or threatened as the case may be), here are some shots from the Kyoto Steam Locomotive Museum, and some others from around Japan.

I was happy to be able to ride everything you see here, from a small excursion train pulled by that 4-6-2 under steam, to a 300kph Shinkansen (新幹線) bullet train. For a trip that wasn't rail oriented, it kinda worked out nicely!

I also have my still photos up as well, at my RR photo gallery site. Look for the album named Kyoto Steam Locomotive Museum.

Nice

Nice video and well edited. I noticed on the last Shinkansen shot that there were torpedo like fixtures facing each other at the end of two cars. They didn't seem to be connected by a cable. Wonder what they are? Any thoughts?

Thanks for posting, Scarpia.

Nice Video Scarpia Thanks

watching those ultra modern Trains makes me think that they are not Trains but space ships pulling into port.

I road the Bullet train 36 years ago when I was in the Navy at that time the top speed was 190-210 MPH so it must have been a treat for you to ride along at 300 MPH.

Oh and thanks for the Hobby shop tour, They were pretty good back in the 1070's but had HO Brass Japanese & American steam on the racks and in the cases and all their Japanese steam Brass was all painted where the American stuff was just polished Brass.
